    $2,500

"I bought this car just over a year ago and have decided it needs a new to home to be appreciated by someone who will not just let it sit. It does run and drive but looses brake fluid and has a slight exhaust leak. This is not a perfect car but could be a daily driver with not too much work. This car is all origional and takes a very good picture. All seven power windows work but the door lock on the drivers rear will not work with the power button. The power antenna is broken but the stock radio still works good. The automatic headlight dimming wil not function. Under hood is the Lincoln 430 CID engine and 4 bbl carb with automatic transmission, power steering, and brakes (leaks fluid). The very old bias ply tires should be replaced before any driving is done. They hold air but they are old and who knows. I have only driven the car up and down the street here at home and not on the open road. The plates expired on 2005. "

Not for me, but this seems like a real good deal........

Seems like a lot to me. IMHO you will be weeding out those that are just looking for a car that will get them around and only catching the attention of historic car enthusiasts. Of course, if that's what you're going for, then I wish you and the lucky buyer the best.

I love old cars, but that thing is FUGLY! What would you possibly do with something like that besides dump money into it that you will never get back?

It depends on what you want to do with it. They are one of the hardest cars to restore ever as parts are not available. I understand the climate controls are near impossible to fix.

Other than that they are quite good looking in my opinion. Just think that the moster car that you see in the picture is also a unit-body. No frame. So, if it rusts it will simply collapse under the tremendous weight.

    That would be a sight!

I just posted this because when I saw it cruising my local Craig's List, and it struck me as being a lot of fairly decent old car for the money (not that I would consider it as an actual purchase). The only drawback I could think of, as Steve indicated, would be parts availability.

As with a lot of other areas, there are quite a few people around here getting in desperate economic situations, and needing to sell off vehicles and whatever else they have, sometimes at pretty good prices.

    not too bad,not too bad

it would not be at the top of my list,no,but---if I had loads of extra cash just laying around,I might go and get it. It can't be that difficult to fix leaky brakes...Putting disks in front might get rid of that...oh,,,and it's NOT the ugliest of Lincoln's looks of the time.:whew:

It's a trailer queen project, as I see it. Worth the bucks for a decent startup. Better than a parts car, for sure.

    this particular Lincoln

Lincoln was doing the something different every year thing,in the late Fifties. I do believe there's a certain year of Mercury with that rear end. Certainly with that rear windshield, but what else besides those two would this be a parts car for?.. It could easily end up a trailer queen, but would be better used as an occasional cruiser.

That's a screamin' deal for the money, IMO! You'd need to check for rust in the usual areas, obviously. Sounds like the electrical system is in reasonable order, everything is there, it's BLACK (yumm!), and it starts, runs, stops, and drives. Got a good title, I'd presume?

For the $2,500, you can get a LOT worse, but I'd buy it, if it were closer! Were that Mark IV a two-door, I'd probably be checking shipping costs right now! The late '50s Lincolns have a pretty good following. There is a lot of interchange between the Lincoln and the Mercury of the era, and mechanical parts are not all that hard to get. Chroma and stainless trim is another story, but this car appears to be all there - a bonus!
