That's quite a bit of work, for an old car. It's hard to believe that it all was necessary, at only 144,oo or so miles. Being that the speedometer was replaced, we'll never know the genuine milage. The shape of the engine compartment is about all we have to go on. And it looks somewhat more than the milage claim. The bid's up at 12 grand. For a car which somehow was able to drive around on non-EPA bumpers, he should be lucky to get even that much for it
As Poison_Ivy says they did a lot of work if the true mileage was really down in the 150K range. Regardless, this seems to be a wonderful car from an era when MBs were legendary for their quality and durability. Note that Hanover, MD, is in the outer suburban ring of DC where much of our money ends up. There are a lot of potential buyers in easy driving distance who could take an in person look. If this car is as good as the photos indicate they could bump the price up on this one.

To give some more perspective on the auctioned sales price for the wagon on this site, the TV show Wheeler Dealers, which is taped in California, featured a white '85 MB 300TD wagon a few seasons ago. If you are not familiar with the show, the premise is they buy an interesting car on the cheap, do an on camera fix up and cosmetics , advertise, and sell. If my memory serves they only got $11,000 or so for their very presentable wagon.
