Here's another one http://topclassiccarsforsale.com/fo...-ii-t-tops-v8-302-automatic-survivor-car.html
That's a neat ride. I could picture myself tooling around in that - of course, with a messaged 302 though.
I could, also. But, particularly in the one featured in the movie. I'd have to send Patrick Swayze's look-alike on a few errands first, though
Are Mustang IIs REALLY going for prices like this now. If I remember right, a King Cobra was the cover art for the book Crap Cars.....
Yes, Mustang II's are gaining momentum. I've noticed that 70's cars in general are gaining value rapidly. Here's my theory: Cars from the 70's are now 40+ years old (depending on year) To people who are in their 20's these are old/classic cars. My youngest sister is 10 years younger than I am. Her Boss has a first year Cobra II. She thinks it is totally awesome. She has no idea that this car shared a platform with the Pinto, and even if she did it wouldn't have any negative connotation. To her it's a classic Mustang. Many young folks (like my sister) who are interested in old/classic vehicles can't afford the prices of the 50's classics or the 60's muscle cars, especially if they are restored/nice cars. They can however afford a 77 Buick Skylark or a Mustang II, etc. You can find a nice car from the 70's that has a V8, some nice paint, interior and tires/wheels for a fraction of the cost of the more traditional classic/muscle cars. I think that the combination of the fact that these cars are "Old" to a large demographic (and therefore cool) and the fact that they are more affordable is in turn causing the overall value of these generation of car, not just the Mustang II, to go up. Just look at that Ford Granada that was on here a few days ago. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/threads/1977-ford-granada-ghia.49375/
As someone that remembers riding in these when they were still common....they were...not great. Now keep in mind I am the guy that owned/loved a Citation X-11 for 20-years and helped restore a '79 AMC Pacer... I'm not hating on malaise-era cars...but then again...would never pay $12K for a Mustang II... Ever.... EVER...
And and you folks are forgetting the BEST Mustang II movie! Starman with Karen Allen and Jeff Bridges. No Mustang II ever looked better on screen.
If your lucky, there might still be third generation Cobras still around to snap up on, before prices of those get rediculously high
