I test Drove one of these back in 86 before I bought the 5.0 LX off the lot. I liked the SVO better, but not for almost 2X the price of the LX. This one is alittle rough, but looks OK for the asking price of $10,000. I had forgot about the odd Speedo on this model with the speeds above 85mph in red & the numbers in BOLD lettering.

It looks like European Ford Grenada halogen units would fit. Oh, well. Almost:

It's hard to believe that a turbo SOHC four-banger could get that Fox-body up to 140 MPH, but then again, they were getting used in dragracing, sooooo....

If I remember correctly in stock form the 86 SVO Turbo Intercooled I4 made 205 HP, the GT's 5.0 made 5 HP less at 200 HP. But the GT's were alittle quicker in the 1/4 mile around 0.2 of a second. But the SVO handles and braked much better. But was a very expensive car for the day. My 5.0 LX was cheap fun, and lighter than a GT with the same engine.

But agreed 140mph in stock form is probably a stretch. After my LX was stolen I bought a slightly used 85 Turbo coupe and got it to run High 13's with the I4 so they will run.

I owned an 84 SVO for 22.5 years. It was a fun car. IMG_20180529_093705.jpg

I like the wheels on that. What's the fastest you've had yours to (or are willing to admit to)?

It was back in 86 or 87 when I was a dumb kid. According to the speedo, I was going 125 and I felt it had more, but I ran out of room.

That is a good looking SVO with those wheels on it.

I did scare the Salesman when I test drove the SVO, he wouldn't go with me when I test drove the 5.0 LX!

Those are 17x9 Konig Villians. I installed a mixture of SN95 Mustang parts to make them fit. 01 Front control arms and spindles, 99 Cobra front and rear brakes, 8.8 rear with Fox length axles and North Racecar caliper brackets.

The cool thing about the SN95 chassis is it's just a modded Fox platform, so the newer parts fit the older cars.

If one of these will fit in there, what could top it?

I'll be using a similar recipe on my LTD wagon, but with GT/V6 rear discs for now. After spending money on everything else I just couldn't justify another $170 for the rear disc brackets. Maybe some time in the future. For now I'll just do the cut and flip maneuver with the stock brackets. Did you have any issues with bumpsteer with the '01 spindles and control arms? I'll be running '95 spindles with the stock fox arms with SN95 ball joints.

It's been a long time, my memory is fuzzy. I don't recall having any issues, but I did install some Steeda tie rod ends.
