Not sure if this would be a worthwhile swap. That '83 Turbo coupe engine was only rated at 145hp.

Weight of the turbo coupe was 2998. Weight of the Marquis wagon was around 3119 - so you've got a penalty of around 120 lbs to start off with. (I'd call the weight difference between the 3.8 V6 and the turbo 4 a wash - the 4 might give you 50 pounds back? So, overall, fairly close in weight.......

Frankly, I'd be REALLY impressed if it was a swap from a later Thunderbird SC..... I'd be all over that.

:cautious: Somebody may already be working on that.

I do like the TC engine swap. The hard work has already been done on this car. Upgrades would wake it up even more. There is/was another TC engine swap into a mid 80's LTD wagon going on, but I haven't heard anything on it in a while.

I like the fact that they kept the T-5 manual trans in the car, TC with a T5 and it was a fun car. The last link states the engine/trans is from a 84 TC (same HP & Torque ratings so it doesn't really matter performance wise) , and the axle has 3.73 gears in it. So it should be a fun car to drive.

I really like this, although not a V8 this would be a neat little sleeper! I've been looking for a replacement wagon (local) for some time now, would not mind one of these again even if it had only the 3.8, both of mine were great wagons. But I have not even seen one driving for has be 2 years+ now.
