Growing up with a 1986 Olds Custom Cruiser as the family car has cemented these cars in my mind, and in my mind there is no better daily transport than a good old GM station wagon. These cars where built for a bygone era when people got out and saw the world, some of them backwards from the wayback seat. I live within a reasonable distance of a lot of things I've never gone to see, and I'd like another Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser to accompany me on these wanderings. I live within a few hours of the ocean, never bothered going, probably won't stay long but it would be something to see. Same goes for Washington DC, and plenty of other interesting places. There are few things I actually want out of life, to be able to travel for a while living out of a station wagon is definitely one of them. So, I'm asking y'all, will you please help me find another GM full size wagon over the next few months?

I'm going to be saving up cash over the summer, and by August (Around my birthday) I should have around $2,000-2,500 cash to offer for a decent wagon somewhere near enough to Roanoke, Virginia I could get there without my nugget of a car (A 1994 Nissan Sentra XE I call Pugsly) dying on me.

We use to pack up the '86 Olds Custom Cruiser and go camping every summer, Cave Mountain Lake in Rockbridge County, Virginia. The campsites where large and graveled, with plenty of trees around them. You couldn't see your neighboring campers usually. I feel like when the American station wagon was supplanted by the horrid minivan, and more recently SUV's, and more recently still "Crossover" SUVs (minivans with an identity crisis), something went missing. The abhorrent lack of station wagons on the road today, is to me at least, appalling.

The nostalgia for the Custom Cruiser's I have, specifically the 1980-1989 bodystyle (Though also the 1977-79 from a 77 and 79 Delta for a while) has really settled in deep. I can't shake it, I want another one of these cars I can form another 20+ years of memories with as my family did with our wagon. In a nutshell, I'm addicted to these cars and I must find another one.

I appreciate y'all putting up with me coming and going over the years, I aim to, in 2018, become a long time owner of my own GM land yacht, hopefully with y'alls help.

Did you see the one that was just posted in the 'Craig's List / Auctions, etc. section?
Way out in San Diego, but it appears to be very nice. If you can up your budget a bit, I think it will pay off in a way better vehicle. This one seems very reasonably-priced. And we DO have some forum members in the San Diego area that might be willing to check it out for you.

There is a nice looking ‘86 in the EauClaire WI craigslist listing. I like it without the wood grain, gives it a cleaner look. Not too bad price.
