Been sitting on a 78 Lemans Safari for a couple years and not sure what I'll do with it. It's in next to excellent condition as it was garage kept and only 60,000 miles, was my uncles. I'll post later in other fourms as to what I mean by "not sure what I'll do". I'm really a chevy guy at heart.
Thanks for the replys guys. Yea it is nice, had it in the garage last night to fix a flat and got to looking it over. The thing is cherry still all factory other than the muffler, tail pipe and head liner. Yes the tires are very dryrotted but they are still holding air. Body is totally rust free. Whoops I'm wrong on that, forgot my uncle lost his drain plug and had the engine replaced at about 12,000 miles. I have a 400 SBC that I just built sitting in the garage that was for another project but it sure would do nicely in this wagon. That's what I think I'll do if I keep the wagon. It all depends right now on another project getting put on the back burner (84 corvette). The 400 would really do good in there. Can't afford to do everything, just need to make my mind up which I want to fool with and then get with it.
Just a thougth but if your a Chevy guy would the front sheet metal from a 78 Malibu fit your Poncho? Lots of interchange between GM cars. Anybody can drive a Vett. Go for something different!
Oh yea that's an unbiased opinion. Just ask a bunch of station wagon folks whether you should do up the wagon or the Corvette.
Bob....im liking you more all the time... sounds exactly like what i was saying..(in my mind) I say build a Ponchibu...or Maliac...
That looks like way too clean of a Pontiac to get rid of. Only 60K on it? That, alone, is reason to keep it. How many miles on the Vette? More importantly, try fitting 4 other people plus you and all the luggage in the Vette!! I say get some PMD wheels for this beauty and really dress it up. (I love factory mags on wagons.)
My brother drives a 96 Vette and loves my wagon. Doesn't seem interested in talking trade though. Go figure! My son, who now owns my 55 Chevy has asked if I would put the Wagon's title as TOD with his name on it. Now that's just cold hearted! I think my daughter's talked him into that cause they .......well....they think it's butt ugly.
Just can't get it together It's been a while since I got started here. I appreciate all the earlier opinions from you all. But finances have brought me to a halt on my projects. Wagon still sets, needs battery, did get a new fuel tank it needs but not yet installed. Have not started it since last fall but feel that should be no problem. Forgot to mention in prior post it's a V6 Auto. Excellent interior with minimal sun fade. The opinions and help I need now is what is it worth? I figure you guys are really into these wagons and could point me in the right direction for asking price and good places to post it for sale. Hate to let it go but it's just sitting with no chance of me ever working on it now. Thanks Larry
