so i wasnt able to go to wagonfest this year ( for those who arent on the impala forum its a gm B body wagon event held in waterloo newyork every year by a forum member named fred) every year they go to a junkyard on the last day and have a demo derby. most of the time the cars that get demo'ed are not roadworthy. this year when i heard what they demo'ed i almost cried. a 37k original miles pontiac 6000le wagon. the reason....no title. this car was beautiful ....ohhhh. it hurts.
Yeah, I saw the pics. That was sad. Never had a wagon, but I did drive a 6000 sedan for a while as a company car - loved it.
I always thought of the Pontiac 6000 wagon as one of the original "sport-wagons". I can't believe that they couldn't get a replacement title and keep that one on the road. There's a special place in Hell for certain people...
It is sad. What a shame.... so is this: Someone had posted this on a thread on the derby site when they told someone they should derby a super nice 74 Impala sedan... "I'd change the bumpers and derby it. That is what my round back Buick Wagon looked like when I bought it. It had 81,000 miles and not a single rip in the interior. Stripped it out and 5 derbies later it is still going strong. Won $3450 with it so far". What a shame. :banghead3:
You should post a link to the guy who won $3450, about what a Buick wagon goes for now. He'd be banging his head, instead.
Consider this is the same body as my ride I can tell you these are great cars. My mom had 1985 6000 sedan that lasted 14 years or so before it died. What a waste. I don't really care about these kinds of events but if I did that would make me stop going. I mean if it was just another goddamn minivan that would have been one thing but all of this because the bastards were too lazy to get a replacement title? Inexcusable!
You can find a lot of these GM wagons in decent shape for anywhere from $600 to $2,000. Even though they're cheap, it's not an excuse to trash a nice one.....
