This car has issues. The tailgate was replaced because the original "was rotted." It looks to me like the rot wasn't confined to the tailgate. As pretty as the car is on top, and I do like the two-tone, it's rough around the wheels, in the rear compartment, and in the tailgate, where the replacement just looks out of place. This is just plain ugly. What's a little weird is that he replaced the tailgate, which was originally a powered gate, with a manual one. That's why the center of the gate has the handle on it. That would bother me, having this mix of tailgate features. It's very low option with no A/C, weird tailgate, no rear defogger, no luggage rack, no cruise or tilt wheel, no power windows or locks, probably just an AM radio if it has a radio at all, and considerable rust once you peek under the covers. He's starting the auction at $3,295 with no reserve, which means he'll take $3,295 for it. I can't see myself giving someone that much money for this car. I can't see myself giving someone half that much money for this car.
I would be more surprised to see one of these cars that didn't have rust. lol. I agree though, it is definitely a plain-Jane and the interior is definitely a variety of different shades. Very interesting.
Still no bids as of Tuesday evening. He may have trouble attracting any considering the car's condition and his starting price. He ought to start it at something like $1,000 with whatever reserve he wants and see what kind of interest it attracts. His problem is that, for $3K+ money, better examples are out there. A decent selling price for this car would be something in the $2,000 to $2,500 range. The multi-hued interior is because he's got parts in there from his '74 donor car, the same one that he got the tailgate from:
No bids again - imagine that. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Chevrolet-Impala-Kingswood-/172941271663?vxp=mtr
