Actually, a pretty nice looking conversion, and in not too bad a shape. Anyone venture a guess as to what it will sell for? The Jackson connection is alledged, but no documented proof......
If Jackson owned it I would'nt touch it! Far too many questionable things regarding him and children...I'm sure Elvis is taking care of this.
Kind of like Checkers that "have never been taxis",this one can be advertised as "never been a hearse"...not that hearses are bad...But,a Cadillac wagon that hasn't been a hearse,is harder to find than hearses...That it's alleged to have been Michael Jackson's car has nothing to do with it for me.It's my complete and total lack of cash money that keeps me from buying this one...
That is NOT a hearse. It IS a station wagon! What some Cadillac dealers and other limo/specialty shops did was to take an Oldsmobile wagon and put all of the Cadillac stuff on it. That is why the roof line looks so nice, is that it was never cut or "converted" in the first place! The Caddy interior was swapped, as was the front sheet metal, doors, dash, and engine, which is why the Cadillac wagon generally cost two to three times what the sedan would've cost new. Some shops DID graft an Olds 98 wagon roof (ordered new), and the other Olds wagon-specific sheet metal and trim, to a four-door Cadillac deVille hardtop or sedan and build the car that way, as well. NOT a hearse!!! This egay car has a LOT of rust in it, around all of the windows, under the vinyl top, and around the wheelwells. Even with the alleged "history", to me, this is a $2,000 car TOPS as it sits...maybe even less with the title problems. Elvis is kicking the crap out of Jackson right now, as we speak!
I think that is how this wagon was put together, except I believe it's a Fleetwood, not a DeVille. I think you'll find that even with the rust problems, and even ignoring the alledged history of the vehicle, the fact that it's a Caddy wagon makes it worth a good premium. I wouldn't be surprised at a price of $8K or so......
The Jackson connection, if any, means nothing to me. If it was their car, they were all just a bunch of spoiled kids then. None of them remembers the car anyways. The car has rust issues under that top. No doubt from the conversion. They are rare cars. This one retains its Fleetwood roof and B-pillars which is nice. I'd go as high as saying worth $5000 due to its rarity. But you'll still need to sink some bucks into it for restoration. I'm sure the seller is expecting $100,000 and up. Just like all those supposedly Elvis owned cars. They can ask all they want, I don't think any/many actually sell for that kind of money.
Fleetwood is what I was thinking, not a DeVille. Still, a beautiful car with very nice styling. The MJ connection is irrelevant to the value, IMO, but to some, they'd pay double just to sniff the seat cushions that the butts of Janet and Michael sat upon, years ago. Sick and sad, but true.
