    Nice! Love intermediate Ford / Mercury big blocks. You don't see them very often.

    Those "intermediate" Fords blimpt out, ending with the 4th generation, before shrinking back to the originally intended size. Weight was going that direction, also. But, with all the necessary new gadgets and bumpers, it stopped there.

    Never drop in a mill, without first renewing the plugs. They ain't difficult to replace. Maintaining the coolant, one should never have problems with them.

    Seller lowered the reserve, and the Cougar ended up selling for $3499.

    It sold for more or less what it costed new in older dollars. That was only 3 years after Nixon allowed counterfeiting the currency through removing its backing from gold:

    Agreed. Great deal for a big block in that condition. Intermediate Mercury's (Cougars & Montegos) can be hit or miss.
