My transmission cooler line that goes into my radiator is leaking. Not by the threads but leaking out this white plastic thing inside the nut.I've never seen this type of cooler line nut before. Is it one of those quick push in ones?Attached picture. Also how do you get the nut off line to replace? Also were do you get a replacement? I went to autozone, advance auto, oreillys and napa and they all say they don't have it. Man its like one thing after another with her..lol..Giving me trouble like my 73 cadillac hearse did when i first got her..lol.. Thanks in advance..

Thanks, I just found some on rockauto.com but they have two different sizes for 1/4'' and 3/8'' pipe. Not sure which one. Their both 5/16'' which is what I need but unsure of what the pipe size it is.

I cannot believe Advance or NAPA didn't 'have them;' is sounds more like the idiots could not be bothered to look. What sucks is that the shop I used to work at had a whole box of assorted fittings, and I'm sure it had what you needed. But, about a year after I left, they cleaned up the shop and disposed of a bunch of stuff, those fittings included. Unbelieveable. Anyway, you should be able to take one of your old ones in, match it to a new one, but try to find a local place that doesn't hire dumb@$$es.

You need a tool to disconnect the line from the fitting. Harbor Freight and auto parts shops will have it. The tool goes around the line, then you push the tool and the line in till the clips inside are spread apart, then pull the line with the tool out. Have a drip pan underneath, as ATF will drain out. Then unscrew it.

I saw some dumbass in my shop doing likewise, because if he had no replacement parts available, he could avoid repair work. He doesn't particularly like work, in general. When I got moved into his department, as he was hospitalized, I stopped all that. When he returned, he was confronted as having me for a boss and the shop inventory was replenished. I caught him twice trying to pull off that same act (I wonder if this was a form of kleptomania sideways or something) and since then, he's got some doctor continually writing him ill slips. He left his tools there, for some odd reason. I think, it's because he's waiting for me to get an offer from either another company or from some other department. Thanks to me, we have too many vintage parts for me to even contemplate going anywhere else.
Those Goofballs in your shop, simply might be too young to recognize Oldschool copper fittings, a tube cutter, a flaring tool and even copper tubing, if you can still get some. I can remember when my kids almost automatically could use a button telephone, without anyone having to teach them how. As soon as I set out an old dial phone, they couldn't figure it out. It was too alien. Same goes with that vintage stuff they chucked out, maybe.
Thanks to rising demand (or just plain greed, if suitable), manufacturers have tried replacing copper with other material.

I've got nieces that couldn't fathom a rotary-dial phone, till I demonstrated it and explained the concept. However, two of the four rolled their eyes with a resounding thunk as soon as I opened my mouth....
I think my former coworkers thought they could still get the parts; nearly all of them were parts for newer cars. But it's not whether or not you can get the part that matters; rather, it's the speed and flexibility of some repairs that matter. After all, time is money.

I found the disconnect fittings.Found one in stock across town at a napa warehouse and another across town at o'reilly's. Of course the fittings didn't show up on computer system for vehicle thats why I wasnt able to originally find it but research paid off.Replaced and no more leak. Part Number 800-608.Bought plastic round insert tool at harbor freight to get line off.Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the advice..Driving my wagon everyday..I've had so many people stop and ask me questions about the wagon more than my 71 cadillac sedan deville and even my 73 cadillac hearse.

When you talk to the parts counter guys you have to tell them what color the vehicle is and how many doors it has. Then it will come up on the puter.
Glad you got it fixed. I miss the NAPA in boonietown, Florida.

Hahah. I remember getting rid of our rotary for a big vanilla colored push button. We have a phone shelf in the hallway and I got a phone from a yard sale or something only to find out, even though we have a "home phone" (which is something you don't hear anymore) it hooks up to a digital line or something like that. I can't use the old phone jacks even though they're everywhere in the house. It's all over my head. I barely can navigate the ol www!!!

The digital line that it refers to has to be a VOIP (voice over internet protocol) or fiber optic telephone line. You know, you can buy good old Ma Bell Western Electric parts on ePay, assemble your own landline phone.
