    Take a look at this 1952 woody on ebay. I love the colour.

    It appears the wood is actually structural on these, not cosmetic?
    Looks great too and agree the natural wood and green goes well.

    Oh, yeah. It's machined to fit, and there's companies in the US and England that make them. Usually Ash wood. It weathers better, except maybe lignum vitae or phillipin mahogany. Lignum never dries for about 20 years. Used to be used for saltwater seals around sea-going ships' propellers. P Mahogany has a tighter grain than Latin American and seals water out for longer. The nice thing about ash is the wild grain and shading, and it releases rain faster than say Oak or Walnut or Fir.
