There's a lien on it; no wonder why it's $3100. That does sound like a sweet deal for a Supercharged 3800 Riv.

Yah velcome. I didn't even see it directly; I just saw the word 'lien' when I had closed the page. So I went back and read it more closely.

And realistically, it should not be a reason for not buying the car, as long as you and he go to his dentist and the licensing office to do the deal.

If you are interested in the car, you can buy it with bill of sale and proof the title will come within 10 days. We can meet where I owe the money so you have proof the lien was released!
It sounds like the car was used as collateral for a loan. I would not be comfortable with a bill of sale and wait for the title.

Forget the car and the lien, what about THIS:

A quick Google search reveals that the 1996 Buick Classic was won by none other than Ernie Els, the native South African professional golfer. So this guy's cousin is Ernie Els? And Mr. Els "brought the car home?" Mr. Els was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. Interesting how the car made it from there to Atlanta, Georgia.

    Boy does this ad stink.

What gets me is that he didn't 'drop' the name. I should've done the search myself. I figured it was a local golfer who won it.

The thing is that it is so easy to check into his story that he has to know that people aren't going to take him seriously unless he really can show that Ernie Els is his cousin. Unless he's referring to some other "Buick Classic," but I don't think there was more than one. There were other tournaments with different names sponsored by Buick in the same year (Buick Challenge, Buick Open, Buick Invitational) back when Buick and GM were heavily into sponsoring golf tournaments, but that all stopped when GM when through bankruptcy. Since then, the only GM brand sponsoring a professional golf tournament has been, I think, Cadillac, with the Cadillac Match Play Championship every year.
