I was working at a Ford dealer in late '74 when the '75's came out. Had my old junior high wood shop teacher stop by, wanting to price out a Torino wagon. Was surprised to find the 460 was optional. That's what he wanted. Didn't get the sale, unfortunately.

Nice wagon, I like the blue, like the tires:),not so much the black wheels though:oops:. But it's your wagon, that's all that matters:wave: I don't know where to look but maybe one of the others could chime up on a site to de-code your VIN #, that would tell you if it at least came factory with a 460.(y)

I have got me a set of american racing 17" polished that I'm going to test.
Maybe just plastidip the spokes so they are black, or grey. Haven't decided yet.
That would be great, it have the same interior as the yellow one but in blue.
Cool car and maybe just this one i Sweden.
    I haven't seen any else.

Thanks guys! Yep, '76 was the last year that the 460 was available in mid-size Ford/Mercury products. Mine is one of 230 '76 Villager wagons built with the 460.

Also, according to the "A" in the VIN (4H43A208194) for this Torino wagon, the 460 was the original drivetrain for this wagon. Very clean wagon, but I definitely don't care for the woodgrain and trim choice.

Love that color. Check the 5th digit in your VIN. If it's an "A", then the 460 would be the original drivetrain.

We've been following this one, over on grantorinosport.org. It started off in Charleston, then ended up in New York, where the next owner kinda trashed it. He winter drove it, trashed the chrome wheels (let them get all crusty), and wrecked the front end. It showed up on CL late last year with the wrecked front end. I'm guessing the current owner picked it up then, fixed it with the '73 front end, and different wheels. Hopefully someone will get ahold of it that will take care of it. Doubtful they'll get their asking price with the incorrect front end and woodgrain treatment.

According to the brochure, the 460 was not available for the Montego wagon in Canada in 1976. Gran Torino was probably the same, but I couldn't be sure without seeing the '76 Canadian brochure for it. Once in awhile, there were differences that make no sense (at least to me) between the Fords and the Mercs and between the US and Canadian models.

Both my '76 Montego MX Villager and my '75 Gran Torino Squire have 400s and both will move along quite smartly, so I can imagine what one of these would be like with a 460.

Well, I don't know but I'm looking for one. Had a blue few years ago and sold it. Now I miss it.
$4500 maybe? It's been for sale a long time

I wonder if there's more to it? Seems like a decent deal, as it sits right now. Maybe they don't have that dual 4V setup tuned right? And it's not running right? That might scare the average person away. Wrong color for some people? Personally, I don't care much for the way they restored the woodgrain and woodgrain trim. Sure, it has the wrong year model grille, but not a big deal on a $5000 car. If I were in the market, I'd definitely consider it. It's hard to find a 460 in the intermediate 74-76 Ford & Mercury wagons. And this one looks clean and solid. The seller seems motivated now, so I'd definitely be making an offer if I was a serious buyer. Maybe start at the $4000 price range and see where it goes.
