    I believe that car has the optional underseat heater, the box with the hoses going into it where the mastercylinder would be on a modern car is the give away.

    Ah! It doesn't have the underdash firewall heater... I didn't notice the defroster box by the hood hinge.

    Almost all of the '55-57 cars I've seen have had the underdash firewall heater and underseat heater, I didn't realize they were 2 separate options.

    I have only see a few with the under seat heater, according to my info that was the last year for that option it was available 1948 to 1956. It is actually supposed to work very well, kinda like an early version of heated seats, but I am also told in makes the defroster less efficient, so it was a trade off, and I think it cost almost $30 so back them it was kinda pricey. The regular heater cost around $12.

    My dad had a 56 with an underseat heater- don't remember being cold in the winter so it must have worked good.
