I was working pumping gas during those years, buck an hour and worked with no breaks in zero degree weather until the tanks ran dry, yep... yep...yep.
My family and friends always had full tanks of gas no matter what.:D

I was pumping gas too that summer during the 79 oil embargo, but I think I was making $2 and change an hour. Non-stop cars from open to close. 15 minutes for lunch - just enough time for one of us to run across the street to Wendy's and get food for everyone. We'd eat it at the pumps while filling the cars. I was working over 50 hours a week. We had a lot of fun though.

Oh yeah? I'd imagine you worked at a gas station that had a dinosaur on the sign....:scratchchin:

I got free valve caps there and five cent BubbleUp.

Later I worked at CLARK'S pumping gas for fifty cents an hour rain, snow, sleet, and sunshine.
Gave free Green Stamps, drinking glasses, cigarette lighters and other things with each ten gallons of 32.9 gas.
Checked the water, oil, tires, battery and washed all the windows.
Had to rent our own uniforms and pay rent to use the adding machine to check the pumps.
All part time after my day job.

Ick. BubbleUp: the soda that doubles as toilet bowl cleaner.
