This might seem like a random question, but if you set your parking brake while the transmission is in park and then shift out of park does your parking brake release?

    Two things -

Fault MAP which is odd, even the mechanic said there were no codes to indicate that, he just happened to take a shot in the dark and try one he had laying around and it fired right up and ran smooth as a baby's butt.

And Kevin, yes - foot on brake, shift from park and the brake releases. If yours doesn't it's probably a vacuum line on the back of the parking brake - they ALWAYS mess up. One of the first things I learned.

Mine works fine. I was asking because the little crescent shaped switch mounted down on the steering column is a common failure point and can cause a vacuum leak that is hard to detect. Glad you got it all back up and running the way that it should.

That's a blind spot with EEC-IV. For some odd reason, the MAP sensor can cause this problem but not set a damned code. And it depends which way it goes bad as to what symptoms come up. Usually, they make the engine run overrich, but this time it was so overlean it wouldn't stay running. Good on him for his experience and having a good sensor on-hand.

I just want to say thanks again for all the help here. This is one of the only forums I come to and throw things out that I don't get "BUY A CHEVY" or some crap thrown back at me.

    Youse guys rock.

We do our best. I don't have a car-based wagon, but I have a wagon-based pickup and an SUV that carries all my stuff. I hang around because this site is great with great people, and I was accepted without question. Someday, I'll have another wagon.

when it´s running ok while driving, I do not think it´s a fuel supply issue.
From my persective definitely a problem with the idle regulation. Is the problem still gone with the engine warmed up?
