It's only in your own mind that you were "run off." The real issue is that you had no leg to stand on. That's why you resorted to name-calling and swearing. Those are the hallmarks of someone who knows he has a losing argument and so resorts to playground behavior. Very mature.

This is about information, not being prequalified to buy a car. The information here is the determining whether the A/C works, and apparently an action has been taken by the seller to update his listing on EBAY to reflect the status of the A/C on the vehicle. I'd say that truthfulness is a lot more marketable than not addressing the issue. Jaunty merely addressed what wasn't clear, he was mature in getting more information about the status of the whether the A/C worked or not. I don't think he got a posse together to silence anybody's opinion or information about the car that was negative or positive. It's a nice car and it's at $7K, which is great, but more information and FACTS are in order for anybody that does bid on it because it's no small piece of change dollar wise. So is Jaunty wrong for continuing to enquire about the A/C status, NO! I have seen no evidence that he's tried to silence a dialogue, IN FACT, he's encouraged one, which I applaud. That is the nature of this forum, to encourage sharing of information, a positive dialogue where people can learn about cars and save time and money with regard to purchases(This thread). So Jaunty keep up the precision analysis of peoples projected words and we can all get to the real brass tacks of what a car is all about that hits the market.

It has to do with a guy, that bashes, yes bashes every single car that comes for sale for "lack" of information, misleading information, not enough pictures, there is a dog in the picture, that's the wrong lighting for a picture, You comment on every single post about a for sale car and tell everyone what you think needs done, what's wrong with it, why you wouldn't buy it, and so on.

First of all, and not surprisingly, you are wrong. Yes, I do criticize a lot of car ads. So what? Is there a rule against it? There are a lot of crappy car ads. But I also praise a lot of car ads, and you might notice that if you looked around on this site at all.

As Thunderwing has noted, this website is about discussing old cars, in particular station wagons. Their care, their maintenance, their restoration, and the buying and selling of them. There are no rules about who can participate and who cannot. You don't have to be a potential buyer of a car to make a comment about one for sale. Everyone is welcome.

There are no rules about what you can say (as long as you're civil--something you might take to heart). All comments are welcome. If you can't stand the concept of an open forum or the possibility that someone might say something you disagree with, maybe you should rethink your decision to come back to this site after so dramatically picking up your marbles and going home like you promised us all you would do a few messages back.

Bashing? Are we not just trying to assess the condition of cars? Mileage, yes, is just a number and I'm sure I can find a four million mile Semi or even million mile Wagon (though the wagon might be the only one and I might need to be the one to drive it to that number) that looks like it just left the showroom, as bypass filtration has been a thing for decades. Still, a number may or may not tell what condition the car's in - see my Mercury for example; the previous owner and maybe his wife put over 200k on it and they never drove it in road salt plus they had it refinished and looking showroom clean when I went to see it; however the oil came out sludged when I opened the secondary drain hole and the coolant was brown so I changed it.

Guess we can say we disagree, it's a great wagon, and I guess since I sold it to Andy and personally know Andy I take him at his word as he has NEVER steered me wrong. But I still stand by my statement that its a bashing. I guess I will bag up my marbles and go play on the swing set for now. I'll be back later

Did I ever say it wasn't a great wagon? Has anyone here ever said it wasn't a great wagon? I asked a simple question. That the seller back up a claim he made in his ad. For that I get crucified and sworn at. The comment is taken and twisted around in ways I never intended, and I end up having to defend myself against accusations about things I never said.

The fact that it was once your car and that you sold it to him is nice to know, but it's pretty much irrelevant. It's his car now, and he's the one who would have to answer questions about it if he chooses to. Yet you chose to insinuate yourself in the discussion as though it was your car and how dare anyone ask questions about it.

I do not apologize for asking that question. I would do it again in a second. If the seller of this wagon can't be bothered or considers it an insult to answer, fine. I'll take that into consideration about whether or not I would want to buy his car, and others as well would probably like to know that that's how he responded to a request for information.

So since I don't own the wagon anymore I am not allowed to talk about it? But since your a "prospective buyer" you can ask questions? Hmmmmm

There you go again. Putting words in my mouth. I didn't say you couldn't talk about it. But what you did went well beyond that. You put yourself between people who ask questions about the car and the seller, who should be the one answering them, and decided to answer them for yourself. And then you went beyond even this to the point of insulting me and swearing at me for asking the question.

So, no, of course not. You are perfectly free to talk about the car. But that's where it should stop. Unless the seller has appointed you as his spokesman, don't assume that you are.

But you appointed yourself as the person to question the A/C condition? Technically your doing the exact thing your telling me I shouldn't be doing. Agree???

No! Not at all! I didn't "appoint" myself. I simply asked a question about the car, as I have every right to do. It's the same right anyone else has. I don't need anyone's approval to ask the question. Not yours. Not the seller's. Not the site manager's. The seller is perfectly free not to answer it. Or he's perfectly free to give a lame answer if he likes, like it's too much trouble to go to the auto parts store and buy a fan belt. (Which still has me laughing every time I think about it.)

You have every right to answer the question or respond in any civil way you like, but you don't have the right to cuss me or anyone out. That goes beyond the bounds of civil discourse.

If you have this idea that people are not allowed to ask questions about or comment about a car for a sale or about anything on this site, you have a serious misunderstanding about how these forums operate.

Guys, we've got some hurt feelings here, and we really try to be sensitive about those things on this forum. Perhaps we should all just move on, as far as this one goes?
