I offered him a 1973 Bel Air wagon and some cash but he wouldn't take it because he's wanting cash only. I like it but probably wouldn't pay $5500 for it.

Manual tailgate. Appears to be relatively low-optioned. Does have A/C, which he says doesn't work. At least, that what I assume "needs update" means.

No photo of the dash, unfortunately. For $5,500, I expect everything to work, and the car should be clean. There should not be a cracked windshield. There should not be a "four-inch" dent somewhere.

Those are about the cheapest 'custom' wheels you can buy - all they are is chromed steel. Probably no more than around $80 each, brand-new.

I didn't notice the mileage. At first I thought that's not a bad price. After looking and reading I agree on the closer to $3000.
Just needs too many little things for a plain jane wagon.:2cents:

Anyone who has a similar car for $3000 I will buy it now and I have cash. This car is by no means a show car but considering nearly all the drivetrain parts are new or purchased rebuilt it will be a car a guy can drive while making additional repairs or drive it for a couple yrs and knock the glass out of it. Guys have already offered much more than 3k so all the professional estimates are off. 3k doesn't even cover the parts invested. I by no means have to sell this car but with very little to no time to stick into it or for that matter enjoy it I would like it to go to someone who desires one of these cars and can enjoy driving it!

Well sorry to tell ya But they are estimating on condition, mileage and work needed/time. I would guess 3500 simply because that's what you'll get for it derby meat wise. We have bought cars for 50+ years at the junkyard and 80-90% of those cars have brand new parts. Some of them THOUSANDS of dollars in brand new parts, simply because some greedy garage owner wanted to shaft the poor bastard. Starting at OH you need new brake lines and exhaust and this and that to pass inspection. Then when all said and done "oh it wont pass inspection cause the frame is bad" OR they put a sticker on it and it falls in half.
I'm not bad mouthing the car, It is the most desirable year BUT for $5500 it had damn well better be a rock hard body, floor and frame. I don't care if it's ugly as a mud fence with a half ass interior. The only rust I would even consider for that price would be mild on the drivers 1/4. It's an easy fix and NOT accessible from the inside or outside of the car to prevent it without drilling holes.

I don't think you are taking the rarity of these vehicles into account. My 2 friends who don't want me to sell it simply because how will I replace it if I so choose to down the road? Good question...Both of the gentlemen coming this weekend to look at it have been looking for a considerable amount of time with little success. One even offered to send a check which I turned down since I want them to see it, and drive it and make sure this is what they want. I should put this car on a lift and may just do that if its still available to show how nice the floors, mounts and frame is, never seeing salt. The bumper shock boxes look like when it came from the factory. Yes it needs some exterior body work on the dent, spare tire(which I have) windshield(which I have) but after watching glorified derby cars bring 3k, I don't think getting 4500-5500 is too much to ask for a car a guy could drive anywhere tomorrow with confidence.
