Been for sale off and on in my area for over a year now. Not sure why it doesn't sell. Decently optioned, presentable condition and an ok asking price. http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/4729369602.html
Never mind. Price is now UP from what I remembered. That's good reason for no sale. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27554&highlight=1973+pontiac+grand+safari
Yeah, I was thinking it as lower in price than that before and that cargo area is looking rough - at least those side panels.
This is now ElB's wagon from TN. I bought his 74 Pontiac for parts on my dads 72 and 73 Pontiac Wagon limosines. Unfortunately it was getting dark by the time I loaded up and I didn't get to check this one out too much...
Yeah, that's mine now. It wasn't a bad deal but there was some shady stuff going on with it that has made me crabby over the last year (most documented at the website). It was definitely not a car that the faint of heart or technically challenged would have found a good deal on. I finally got it running great though. It's down for the winter so I can rebuild the dangerously wobbly front suspension and steering and pull the engine. Timing cover started leaking 2 weeks ago and both top bolts in the water pump\timing cover snapped off.
Thanks for the great documentation on your wagon project. I know how taking pictures along the way can get tedious especially when you hit a snag. Your articles will definitely help me work on my Buick and save me some money. Thanks!
Thanks. I document mostly because I want to remember and keep track of what happened in case I forget as was the case on my first '67, it's been 10 years and I've forgotten a TON that I fortunately documented. I also like to have a reference to show people what is involved in bringing a car back to runner and daily driver status if it's been dormant for 10-15+ years. People get angry that their mechanic wants to charge them $900-1500 to do a tuneup and fix a bunch of parts that need replacing, but when you see what's involved suddenly it makes more sense. The goofy stories and nightmares that come with it are great for referencing things to people on the forums too.
I havent been on here much lately, so glad to pop in on the boards here and see this wagon got a good home. I actually called about this one when it was listed last summer and spoke to the seller. With the price and shipping, it was more than I wanted to go, but I did love the fact it was so highly optioned. I was actually going to try to get it and sell my '72 Kingswood Estate. I now have a fotrune sunk in my wagon and still a fortune to go, I just forgot about the Grand Safari. Since I also have a 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville sedan (which is the same car in sedan form), I knew they were good cars. I drove mine for years with not a single issue and it is still a nice car, but I have unfortunately let it set for a few years and it is going downhill, which I plan to remedy soon. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the Grand Safari.
