well some off you i have had the fortune to meet in person but others not yet. so with my new wagon will come a new introduction. I grew up in NYC and mover here 21 yrs ago. i have a wife and 2 daughters, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 guinea pigs, and a bunch of fish in a tank and a pond. My first vehicles on this site were a 59 chevy brookwood and a 59 ford 2 door ranchwagon restomod which sits unfinished. The 59 chevy was hit on day 1 of the 2013 hot rod power tour and it still not done due to fighting with the insurance company. My next toy was a 2005 magnum r/t. It was the first mopar i've owned and was quite impressed. This summer i took it on an 8,000 mile roadtrip ending on the power tour and posted loads of pics of sites along the way, check out my thread "go west young man'' Well my new toy is just a few weeks old to me , it is a 2007 dodge magnum srt8. Somehow from the ad to delivery a few things popped up on the car so i was able to negotiate the price and drove it home. It needed a new radio so i put in a kenwood dnx692 . it was on sale and came with all kinds of free stuff and was cheaper then the factory radio. Two problems which somehow popped up were 1- they removed all the graphics instead of just the 13 on the door leaving faded paint and a ton of glue 2- broken front spoiler - which thanks to the good old internet sitting at the dealership in texas i found a brand new srt8 bumper for sale in Hialeah fl, so we made an adjustment to the vehicle price So now i have a new toy with some leftover goodies from the r/t which my daughter has.
nice up date. I didn't know you had sooo many pets. Is that why you have wagons so they all fit in when you take off on those roads trips? Congrats on the new to you baby.
"well some off you i have had the misfortune to meet in person." Even though we've tried to meet several members it's never worked out. 59wagon has been the first and only so far. Since he was on his way from Texas to home with his latest toy he didn't have any of his pets with him, not even his wife or the fish! Both my wife and I enjoyed our brief meeting and hope to meet again. Welcome to the forum again. Hopefully you are not shy and will add your wisdom to the group. Like Jeff, we moved to Florida some 21 years ago.
Welcome again! You seem to have quite a menagerie of pets. That don't make you a bad person... That's too bad about your '59 Chevy, and trying to get some satisfaction from your insurance company. They're typically a hassle to deal with..and usually piss you off to no end. I hope you're able to get it back to it's former glory. Sounds like you and Denny had a nice meeting. He's about 45 minutes west of me. BTW, where in NY Chitty were you from originally? We've been down here for 25 yrs. and there's no looking back. Jack
Hi jack.. Or when at the airport hello Jack! We have at least two members in Gainesville. Too bad we all couldn't have met over here at one of the restaurants on rt-19-98 or even at Cracker Barrel off I-75. Sadly age has made us look back toward Illinoiz. Sometimes we do things we didn't plan on. We live in a crappy double wide on a dirt dead end road in the boonies and I would rather stay till the end. But kids and wife decided we need to go home again. Contrary to what they say you really can go home again. We're even gonna walk down Memory Lane.
Hey Denny, I do know one other member in our area. We've actually met recently but we've seen each other before. Do you know Adrian with the '66 (I think) Vista Cruiser wagon? Original dull paint patina with nice wheels and stance. I'm sure having family up north makes it easier to go back. I still have a few good friends back up north, and my wife has a siblings and cousins up there. It was hard the first few years we were down here. We hardly knew anyone, plus nothing was familiar. We were almost at the breaking point of turning around and going back, but decided to hang in there and give it a shot. It was difficult finding adequate employment in my friend. The crappy pay scale was an eye opener to say the least. I wasn't old enough to retire at the time. Our parents were still alive, so we did make frequent trips back up there. Once they passed, we had no urge to go back. I think aging up there is more of a hardship. I see what my folks had gone thru. That's besides dealing with harsh winters. I do recall you mentioning going back up to Illinois. I'm sure it's been thought out thoroughly between your family members. You have to do what feels right, and how you foresee the future. Perhaps one day, the few of us can meet somewhere. Good luck! Jack
I've never met Adrian either. We used to be in Gainsville pretty regularly. Doctors, hospitals, many medical appointments, and the Home Improvement stores. Always watch for station wagons but rarely see any. Too busy trying to stay out of everyone's way driving like crazy people. Now we mostly hang around home inside. So like we decided, sitting in the house in Illinois is no different. The car I recently bought has remote start, garage is next to a covered patio, and the stores are heated. I can always call a kid to bring milk and beer. As for meeting, that little 19-98 diner was a nice place to eat and chat. I even got to look at a beat up Dodge magnum srt8. Love that black color.
Denny, I remember a while back that you used to come into Gainesville for treatment at Shands. We never did get a chance to meet in person...sorry about that.
Great looking 59.............there are a few of them running around here. Have seen them at a few shows I have been to. I have always liked the Magnums as well. They looked like the top was chopped.
