The yellow/yellow/yellow color scheme has me reaching for my sunglasses, but it is a good-looking car. I wonder what the reserve is.
"RARE! Only 13k of these produced by GM! Nice Ford factory 6D (light) yellow exterior ....." WOW one of the really rare Fords that GM produced!!
Gee, I would have thought the number of of Fords GM produced was much closer to zero. To the seller's credit, he did correct himself in his ad.
Looks clean and straight. But low optioned. No power windows. No 3rd row seat. No passenger side mirror. And radio delete? What is that above the location where the factory radio is usually installed? Looks almost like an 8-track?
You guys, well-optioned cars, even in the Seventies, were very rare. Dad's '78 Fairmont had a standard trans, 3-on-the-floor, AM radio, and the only two options Dad wanted were the 200 I-6 and the rear window defogger. Two benches, hand cranked windows and door locks and NO PS, PB or tilt. Lemme tell you, I drove that car 3 and a half years, and it totally sharpened my driving skills.
Agreed, the 74-75 recession and 1st gas crunch in late 73 (74 Model year) really hit cars sales hard, and I remember a lot of no option cars in the 74-76 model years. And they decontented most models to get the base price down, I was Shocked when my Older sister bought a 76 Grand Prix and it had a 350 2bbl powering it. Bench seat, but it A/C and a AM/FM Radio. This Wagon is in great condition, and I even like the exterior color, but that green interior Yuck +
The factory radio on those fords was located right above the ash tray. That car does look nice and I would not mind owning it if I had the room.
Yeah, I don't know what's above the radio delete plate, but it's definitely not an 8-track player. I've seen aftermarket tuner heads that small, but there's no display on this one.
I sent a message to the seller. The contraption in the bottom right corner of the instrument cluster is the controls for the A/C. That's how low-optioned this wagon was. Someone added aftermarket A/C to it. One other thing to note, someone has swapped out the plate above the glove box. It should say "Torino", not "Brougham".
It definatly looks like some kind of AM Radio, but only with a better picture will we be able to tell for sure.
