No, not really. Same with the wagons. Everybody was buying Fairmonts or XR7's.

Did this model replace the Monarch, Mercury's version of the Ford Granada?

I believe there were '82 models as well.......plus the '82 line added wagons.

I once had an '82 Cougar wagon I parted out because a tree limb split it long ways.

Interesting info from a Granada wiki:

This one is not to far from me, so if anyone is interested in it, PM me and I can go look at it.

I wonder why it needs a Lt front fender? The seller states it needs one, but I don't see anything wrong with it from the pictures. Definatly an odd car. I expected it to have the small V-8. Suprized me to see the I-6 in it.

The I6 was only just a few dollars, IIRC, whereas the V8 was much more expensive. Plus, as any Ford guy knows, the I4 was totally gutless. If Ford had jumped all over EFI for the I4 and I6 early on, they would've been much better engines. The I6 was tough (seven main bearings) but only a measly, asthmatic 1-barrel carb. Even Chrysler, in the late '70s, put a 2-barrel Carter on the 225 Slant-Six. A very smart move, IMHO.

I see a tweak in the LF bumper end; perhaps the damage is behind that?

He must have fixed the text.
It's the RIGHT fender that's tweaked - pretty bad. Might be a bit difficult locating one. NOT the same fender as a Fairmont, for instance.

That is correct. Here's an unfortunate 1982 Cougar wagon.

Seems kind of rich for one of the worst Cougars ever made with a mangled front fender even with the low miles. Maybe it is the lighting, but the front end looks duller than the doors/back in the one frontal/side shot.

    Might be yours.....
Based on the code on the blue car, this is at an insurance salvage auto auction, and it's back around September of 2010....
