well the 59 is back from the upholstery shop and i'm pissed . the door panels look like they were never finished properly(ciadella interiors) and they shoved the exxtra front seat into the back and slammed the tailgate. this drove the seat bracket into the window track braking the brand new bushings i had just installed, plus the a/c doesn't work, the drivers window doesn't work and oh yeah forgot while it was at the body shop they lost one of the lenses so they lights dont work right. no big deal i'll just buy the new reproductions everyone advertises but no one seems to have them in stock. this is the first time i really wish i could have caught the drunk driver for just about 5 mins for the first time i'm so fed up im thinking of selling it
NO! Take a walk, torment some alligators and kick a puppy. Relax and things will be okay. If I started talking about everything i'm Pi$$ed off about the forum would run out of space!:banghead3:
I was thinking the same. Take a deep breath and a beer or two. After that realize you have had your emotional reaction and that it is now time to put your energy in solving the problems. But above all: don't sell!!!
Go enjoy the Fourth. Drink a fifth. Or two. Because, if you sell that wagon, you'll regret it. I regret having to sell my '89 Bronco, and it's just a Bronco. Go take your mind off vehicles and others touching them. Have a fun time this weekend and groove to the fact you get to have a wagon like yours.
This was, I believe, an insurance job. Do not sign off on the repairs and allow payment until the job is done properly. Get the insurance adjuster involved. Work like that is simply not acceptable in the least.
I forgot it was an insurance job, so enjoy your weekend, and first thing tomorrow morning, go see whomever is the person that's handling the paperwork on the repairs and get them to go see the car at the shop.
Excellent advince, listen to him. Please don't sell your car for this reason. Being this angry just proves how attached you are to it. Don't except this job as finished your wagon is so worth to be treated better then this...hang in there.
Take a deep cleansing breath....not just for Lamaz anymore!!! I had a convertible top put on my Buick and they left the windows up when they put the top down....both of my window gears had broken teeth and suddenly the fellow "no habla." I replaced both gears in the window motors and never considered those folks again.
Years ago i had a 66 Mustang i was restoring and my daughter rear ended someone. The insurance company offered me 1800.00 with a 1100.00 buy back. They said it was totaled with a bent frame. Mustangs atre unibody...no frame. i contaced the insurance co. and asked for a new estimator to whom I supplied all my bills for the money i had spent during the restoration process. They came back with 5800.00 and 400.00 buy back. i got the car repaired with all OEM parts, painted, and ready to roll for 3800.00. One thing of note: most insurance use outside estimators who may not be familiar with what they are estimating.
It's for sure most have no experience dealing with older vehicles or customs. All most estimators want to do is total a car. To help matters I'd be glad to take that beat up old station wagon for $2500 cash and try to fix it myself. Not that I even like 59 Chevys.
All reasons I do as much of the work myself as possible! Seems you can't trust anyone with older cars these days. Newer ones lack style and sturdiness and are nothing but mobile computers these days. You gotta take extra care and finesse an antique machine. Most people working on modern cars don't care if they mess something up because a replacement is easily and readily available. Not so with an older antique, but they just don't make that distinction sometimes. Don't sell. Do like all the others have said. Think about it on a beer or two and come up with a course to take that involves fixing the problems!
