Trying to stay with in rea$onable dreams. I could afford this wagon ( http://victoria.en.craigslist.ca/cto/1139594205.html ), and still would have a driver while I would be working on putting this front clip on my 83 Cutlass ( http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/8894770 ). I have been watching this car and tryed a low ball offer before the price was reduced, I never heard back fron the seller. From what I can tell the fronts are the same as the 83 with the exception of the grille inserts ( http://www.gbodies.com/images/cutlass/83bluecutlass.jpg). Channel the rear bumper to fit flush with the sides but keep it chromed, beef up the suspention, maybe a 350, ame ralleys with new radial T/A's and definitly keep the wood grain look. Now getting back to reality...I'll buy 4 new winter tires this fall!
I would start with a complete blue printing of the wagon, front to rear tires to roof rack. Then have it re-set up for a 7000 lbs tow rating. Then start work on my dream wagon. A 1966 Chrysler town and country wagon that will get rubber in all three gears and a be in the 10 second category.
Pull the L05 and drop in a 502 crate with twin turbos. tubb it with 33" Mickeys and 15x15 weld star wheels on the rear, 15x10 on the front Keep the full interior and full 3 row seating capacity Get a airdamn style front bumper GS style hood scoops to feed cold air Ditch the woodgrain for a single color of Dodge Intense Blue DVD Player with monitors built into the headrests for the babies in the middle seat and a monitor in the tailgate and have a PS3 built in for the rear seat for my older sons. Limo black the windows Reapolster the interior with high grade leather in the original tuck n roll pattern of the 92-93. Indash DVD player/monitor with 6 speakers and 1 12" sub in the back tool box/storage area. Full stainless true 3" exhaust with high flow cats, x pipe and dump out under the rear bumper in 2 dual tips. Hey, I can dream, cant I?
I oh so often talk about buying my buddy's 454 that he has sitting at his place, mating it with a built TH400 and dropping that in, and of course beef up the motor and put dual quads with a blower on it. And then redo the rest of the thing to stock specs, and leave people in shock at the stoplites.
I'd put one more seat belt in the back (9 Pass wagon) then, real dark wood. An LT4 with a stock roadmaster cam and a 4l65e trans. If I had 2nd wagon, it would get a LS7 and glass in the back like a '70 sport wagon.
put it back in original condition, with a little upgraded power, a rear airduct hidden in the hump, and much better tunes.
Finish the paint and interior, and depending how much money and space I had would determine how many more wagons I would buy.
I think about this everyday. I would get my '89 Country Squire restored as much as possible, for the most part. Get some body work done, a paint job that's close to the original, some type of wood grain and molding replacement, new dashboard, spoked rims, new set of matching white wall tires, probably a new cd head unit, sub woofer, and some tweeters. Of course repair stuff like the leaky windshield, leaky power steering pump, leaky engine. leaky radiator, and clogged windshield washer hose/system. Tint the windows, cover the rear cargo area, and top it off with one of those hydrogren on demand kits to improve gas milage and reduce emissions.
Really! But hey, it gets me to work and back and everywhere in between, so I can't complain too much. :icon_drive:
