Did you change the tailgate motor as shown in the YouTube movie where
it was done on a passengers door?

Just like that, except that I repaired the original motor (easy) and re installed it.
All five doors and all years are pretty much the same.

OK, thanks. It was simply not possible on my '86 LTD Country Squire. It is not
possible to get access to the bolts. As said before, the holes will not be covered
afterwards so "emptying the tailgate" was the only way as shown before.

I'm going to simply drill the three holes, as pinebox has shown to be possible, and put three plastic plugs over them when I finish. I really don't feel like jacking with removing all that other nonsense.

Makes sense to me and I haven't even seen it. Years ago I remember plugs in the body after drilling and undercoating was put in places.
There used to be small metal plugs with fingers like old style disc hubcaps.

Good luck! :sarcasticclap: I think I have done too many work
to make my window work again. But what do I know......
The movie shows sidedoors. Try to find a tailgatemovie....

Sidedoors have the small marks to show you where to drill.
I have done two doors of my car. The tailgate doesn't. I believe
they forgot to put the marks on the tailgate when producing
    the car. :slap:

It's your car, your decision. Good luck again.
