73 CS with a motorcraft 4bbl/429 . When it sits for few hours the carb loses it's prime and there is no gas in the line . I have to use ether to prime it then it starts and runs fine. No leaks on the surface of the carb. Any ideas ?
    Thanks

Sounds like the fuel pump allows the gas to drain back. When it does, it siphons the fuel bowl. I think it's doing that because if the gas drained into the engine, you'd be able to start cold it without the starter fluid, then it would die and be hard to restart.

If your engine uses a 4300 or 4350, I have a late-model 4350 in the For Sale section (shameless plug).

I can find no numbers on the carb and the tag is gone.

Can you take a pic of the carb? I'm sure it's a 4300 or 4350 Holley/Motorcraft carb, but it could've been replaced with an aftermarket carb years ago.

I just picked up an Edelbrock carb for it . I am pretty familiar with them. I think it will work out better. Thanks
