As soon as I get my trans in I am going to start on the interior.
I want to get rid of the bench seat and put some buckets in there.
I dont really have to have 64 Buckets but would like something that looked good and has some comfort to them.
In my 95 Impala I swapped out the stock seats to Pontiac Bonnieville buckets. Those things were nice. I even thought about those in this minus the headrest but not sure if they would look good or not. Need to get one and test fit it to really see.
Any ideas on buckets for a 64 Impala?
    Thanks guys
    Later
    Bernie

Hard to say what mite look good in there. I just put leather powere buckets in my Cutlass, the seats came out of a bubble 2000 some thing Chrystler Concord. I would say size of seat will matter for your Impala, you don't want some thing that may be comfee but look like a small chair in a big empty room if you know what I mean.

If you are going to re-aupolster the seats you have a HUGE amount to choose from. Me, I was looking for a colour match (as close to) and lucked out.

Some of the auto wreakers I delt with were willing to let me take 1 seat home so I could test fit, I did have to buy the seat but could return it and get my $$ back. It is probobly your best option so you don't regret it later.

IMO Crystler has always made good quality strong buckets that look dam nice but I'm sure there are others, it's all up to whay you like.

You can click on my photo link below and scroll back to see what the seats look like from the Concord. Intrepid for sure has the same buckets, New Yorker maybe. God luck with your search

The 'bucket seats' from the '64 Chevy's wern't much more than individual bench seats - not much 'bucket' to them. It would be nice if you can go 'original', though.

Barring that, I would suggest something from say a Olds Cutlass Supreme, 1979 - 1985. They looked something like this........

The somewhat 'square' shape would go well with the '64's interior.

May I ask, what the benefit is to bucket seats? I've always been a bench seat guy.

If you're looking for seat cores to re-cover you can use

I suppose any 2dr model will have buckets.

Yah but I thought he might be looking for front buckets of the same vintage as his '64. I remember my uncle's '67 2dr Impala so that's why I thought of it.

What Norm said for sure;). Personal prefrance, the look your after, comfort prefrance. For me it was comfort (getting old), had my 60/40 split bench seat reclined I may not have needed to look for other seats but with out recline it was the most awefull thing to sit in after 1/2 hour behind the wheel yet the seats were mint. Before my back surgary I went with buckets in my Fox wagons for the reason that if my wife was driving the bench was all the way foreward and I mite as well sit in the back seat.:rofl2:

Would the seats from an LTD fit?
My Dad had a 68 Brougham with awesome power seats! Split bench, and I was in high school and my wife might read this so I won't say anything else...:162:

The small LTD fox seats will fit. That guy I met shopping the other day, had the exact same seats (Colour, reclining and power) in his wagon (1984 Fox LTD - LX?). The bigger LTD's have a wider layout on the tracks.

The Oldsmobiles offered buckets back then, and they would fit. Nice thick backs, lots of powered options too. Some had reclining seats. You could even find that the backseat upholstery can be adapted for the wagon.

I had a 1963 Olds 4 door HT and it was about the same width. The Olds shared a lot in common with the Chevs too. I think the Buicks and Pontiacs had more in common. Worth a web-search.

I can't recall which one, but one of the vendors in the Links thread off the main page had some good visual tool with the different model buckets.

    Bucket seats

I have 71 Cutlass seats in my 64 Olds F-85 I made the mounts as the conversion brackets did not fit the pan correctly. Who would want buckets in a wagon anyway?;)

You know, that was the first feature I showed my last gf when I got the Delray. I had my Crown Vic with buckets and hated that when we was out and about. Now, I'm always trying to get the girl I'm pursuing now to scoot to the middle seat of the wagon. Whenever she gets in, up go the armrests!!!

You're never too old for it, my dad bought his Silverado new in 2000 and had to get the standard 4x4 package over the Z71, just because it had a bench and no console because he wanted to be able to have Mom set there. And he was 40 at the time.
