Don't know if it runs, don't know if it drives, do know the brakes are sticky, but not locked. I'm gonna be getting my fathers steering wheel puller so I can get the ignition switch out since it has no keys, it's a gamble, but I only paid $550, I can make my money back on this, possibly come out ahead even if it doesn't run. If it does run however, I plan on keeping the car. I've wanted a two door like this for a long time. Sure a Cutlass is cool, but these cars have class. Oh, to add to the thrill of starting it, it hasn't been started in four years, that video will be coming soon as I get a chance to try to start the car. Anyway, here's a video I shot of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8mtc0hiTkM So yeah, my 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 (Goldie) has a new sibling, don't know what I'm gonna name the Holiday, I've got a few idea's. I jokingly called it the USS Geriatric. So far I'm debating between Smokey, 'cause of the silver paint and the fact that it's going to be a smog cloud when I fire it up. And, Doc, 'cause, it's a Holiday 88.
Not a bad looking car for the Price, and a bucket seat floor shift 88 can't be very common!!!! Fingers crossed for the engine/trans!!!!
Looks decent. Appears someone missed the key hole a few times! Considering what my son has just in transmissions for his old truck $550 is a bargain.
Nope, they aren't, I've wanted one for a long time now. Was more into the 80's bodystyle before I got my '77 four door, but now I like these more. They've got a look too them I like. Yeah I think they tried to bust into the car when they lost the keys. Don't know what happened too them, the guy I got it from said the woman who owned it had four cars or so. I figure even if it doesn't run it's worth it's weight in parts to me. Thanks, and yeah, it left me pretty speechless. I already hadn't slept since the day before, so my brain pretty much stopped at that point. I found a bit of filler on the drivers side fender, on the top, think it may have been hit on that side, not sure yet. I haven't looked the car over that well, it's been too cold.
The Holiday package was a great deal on these cars. Certainly not common. It included the sports handling package with the stiffer springs and anti-sway bars front and rear, and I believe, included the sports wheels. It had been discontinued by 84 when I got my Delta new, or I would have had it, no questions asked.
I watched the video. I love your quote "It's kinda... rough" I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. She's a little rough around the edges to be sure, but once you clean her up she'll be a peach. Just make sure you wear gloves and a dust mask.
IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIIIIVE! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykRa8vkX2LA I've got to clean out the bad gas somehow, get in some fresh gas, my friend has the carburetor and is going to clean it out and salvage parts from my other Q-jet's if he has too. I'll update when it's ACTUALLY running, but it is alive.
How did the guy go from making beautiful Bel Air's to boxy Delta's? Man times change, still, I like these cars. People consider them boats, but I work with a guy who has a 2008 Ford Taurus that is only marginally smaller than my car, mostly just in terms of overall length because of my park bench bumpers. I'm thinking on my '79 I'm gonna get the interior redone in as close to stock red as possible, get the vinyl top done to match, paint the wheels to match, get the car redone in factory silver, and not worry much about the rest. The car seems rock solid.
