So...You guys thought you got rid of me and frankly I didn't think I would get another wagon after the Caprice I got for my son BUT..... So here it is...I will be picking it up in a month or so... My first car was a 56 2 door and always had a soft spot for them...57 had too much chrome for me...even though I was born in 57...Never thought I would own a 57....But... I have been thinking about this wagon for a couple of years...A friend has had it for years along with a row of other 57s... It is such a dechromed model I think I can live with it so I just told him I would take it and am going to pick it up in a month or so... As of right now its just getting a 283 3 speed manual out of another 57 and going to be driven as is...US Government markings and all (until someone tells me I shouldn't-then it will get a primer "X" over the doors). Its a "Window Delivery" and is a strange bird...from what I read it was mostly ordered by US Government...This one was bought at auction, driven home, engine pulled and pushed out into a field to sit for 10 years or so then my friend bought it 15-20 years ago and has been in his "57 row"...I will try and add some bigger pics...
Members can run but they can't hide. Welcome back. I'm with you on the 57 Chevys being over done. My favorite has always been the 56 Bel Air 2-door HT. I've never had any 56 models but a few 55's and a 57 2-dr HT that I loved even though there is two much chrome crap on 57's. I graduated high school in 57 and married my highschool sweetheart that year. The class of 57 had a dream. I'd be glad to wander over to that cornfield and drag that sedan delivery home to Illinoize. That's a keeper. Sad it sat so long outside. Looks like it would be fun taking a camera out in that pasture and snapping pictures of all his junk. PS Take all the 57 hoods you can get your grubby hands on.
