So, I posted this one a year ago, and it still comes up every few months. I can't imagine that this guy is so dumb as to think that this body is worth $17,500. He has it listed on Hemmings as well, and says it "smokes and has power loss, but don't have time to investigate the engine issue" If I had the money, I'd offer him $4000 cash, because he sure isn't getting his current asking price! https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/4753662551.html He seems to be a private collector, but he sure does have some really high asking prices for the cars he's trying to sell off.
Get the engine going OK, and we're probably close on the money at $17.5k. As it sits with the engine issues - no. I think it's worth more than $4k though.
Don't we always say that a wagon is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it? He's been trying to sell this for over a year, so maybe he'd take $4k for it. Not that I have the money though...
I wouldn't do the 4K even if I had it to spend ..... Car did not come with buckets.. Front and rear seats do not match.. And that crappy-azz cheap paint job probably won't last long in outside environment....
Nothing wrong with the buckets but for that much i'd want a floor shift as well....among other things!
I would think after a year of trying, he'd get the hint. Drop a 290 horse 350 crate motor in there, and he'd probably get some action......
SMOKE AND SOME TOP END NOISE. I THINK IT'S DUE FOR A NEW CRATE ENGINE, EASY JOB WITH THE SPACE IN THE ENGINE BAY $17,500?
I wanted to look at it last spring and he said he was to busy to pull it out of the building and to call back. He actually seemed irritated I called. Looks like a nice 8K wagon.
On top of which, this year did not offer an SS package in a wagon. I worked for a dealer back then. I also never saw a wagon with bucket seats. Yes, it is a nice presentation, but it ain't an SS, end of story. If I had the money (c'mon, LOTTO!) I'd offer him $8k for it, just because it is pretty clean. But I'd rather have a Buick Sportwagon, by far. Again, lackacash is my affliction.
Most anybody should know by now that you couldn't get a 'SS' wagon from Chevy except in 1973. That doesn't stop everybody and his brother from creating one. If there's one out there, there's thousands. Just do a google image search. I don't fault anyone from doing it - heck, if I had a Chevelle I would probably do it myself. Just don't claim it's factory issued. In this case, the seller says, "Super Sport trim...." He's not claiming it came that way.
