I told my wife if she gets too sick I'm taking her to the vet to put her down.
She's been very healthy lately and keeps an eye on me!:rofl2:

And Tedy the bet's off. We haven't begun to pack or put this place up for sale. Maybe we'll just call the other one our summer home. ;)

I pondered the surgery route for quite a while. The growth was large enough that she was only able to use about 60% of her lungs and her esophagus was compressed. She was a trooper and was still playing and eating like a horse. It was only vague suspicions that had me ask the vet to check into something more serious. It turned out I was right and she was pretty bad off. It was just not fair to her to bring her home again. The vet said she might have had another couple of months at best without surgery. At 8 years she was old enough that the anaesthetic, the surgery, and the recovery were all very risky. I had to make the call.

She was always a feisty, snooty little thing when anyone else tried to touch her. I only picked her up that first time because I had never handled a rabbit before and was curious to see if I could do it any better than the room full of people she had been fighting with. The instant I held her that kicking, squirming little ball of fur fell asleep against my chest. From the very first moment we met, she bonded to me and had little interest in anyone else. Apart from a couple of week-long business trips we were never apart for more than the length of a work day for over 8 years. We spent a lot of time together and it tore me apart to have to say goodbye like that. Knowing I made the right choice for her was cold comfort.

    Poor dog, what happened?

Sorry to here about Cloe. My mom had a cat that had Leukemia. We didn't know until mom had gone away and that cat became VERY sick, she had to be put down there was nothing that could be done. Sorry to hear about your sweet pet.

Nice garage. We moved mom into this house in January during a snow storm. Tip: don't pack the shovel. Happy moving. :)

We took a little while to warm up to it. It was a little out of our price range originally. We came up from our comfortable price as much as we got the seller to come down from hers. It offered everything we wanted just not as cheaply. Now we're anxious to get in there. It was designed by and owned by a local architect so it's a little quirky, but so are we. :bouncy: What really struck us as odd was that no one else made any offers on it for the several months that it was on the market. Guess it was just meant to be.

We're thinking the same. I got Ms Bun a short while after we had to put our dog down. The Mrs wanted something to cuddle with, and what's more cuddly than a bunny, right? WRONG. That bunny worshiped the ground I walked on and only just barely tolerated my wife. I think we're going to try being pet free for a while. I'm a firm believer in living for the care of my pets. I don't go away and leave them in the care of others, and I always make sure that I'm home in time to feed/water them and give them time to play and stretch. Now we think we might just try going places and doing things for a while to see if that suits us. I did however agree to let the Mrs have some budgies if we bought this new house. Our last bird passed a few years ago and she really misses the sound of birds flying around the house. We'll see how long it takes. :)

We are rockin' and rollin' here. We've got about 1/2 of the house boxed up getting ready for the end of the month. Getting into that larger place cannot come soon enough for me. It's almost twice the size of where we are now without counting the basements. I'm pretty excited! The only fiddly bits are going to be packing up the garage and my workshop. We kept talking ourselves out of doing those while it was relatively warm outside. Now that winter is showing it's face a little more I'll wind up having to do it in the cold. A lot of what's in the garage is spare parts for the wagon. Those are all thoroughly boxed and labelled anyway 'cause I'm such a nerd. I'm thinking, once the snow stops for a bit I should be able to pull the wagon out and get pretty much everything packed in the car. That'll make the job a lot less daunting.

I hear ya! We drove up north a few years ago to help my sister-in-law move down closer to the rest of us. As we were packing up her stuff ('cause she hadn't packed prior to moving day:taz:) she mentioned that we needed to have her old car hauled away before we left. It turned out that she hadn't bothered to scrap her last car and we had to dig it out from where it was completely buried. Once we found where the car was buried...it took two of us 2 1/2 hours to get enough snow cleared away that it could be towed.

My wife had a dog she had since she was 12. Her and I married when she was 22 and I, 23 so I ended up growing close to this dog that lived a great life of 17 years. I was 30 years old when I had to make that decision with "Taffy" she was just old and her heart weak. We took her to vet the month before and he told us she was just up in age and we probably couldn't ask for a few more months. In a months time we seen her get weak to the point of no more quality of life. Made the decision on a Thursday night, I made a pallet on the floor and slept with her. Next morning I told her good bye and received a gentle lick on the nose as if to say "It's OK and time for me to go."

Oh man, I've had more than my fair share of those types of moves....most recently my daughter. She had very little boxed up. Luckily, she and the BF really didn't have much in the way of furniture / heavy stuff to move. It all fit in the smallest U-Haul box van (12' I think) with plenty of room to spare. And mom and dad fronted all the moving and move-in expenses as well. The money faucet is now off.

Also remember getting a call one rainy night down in Southern California, back in the 70's. I was not feeling all that great, with a bad head cold. It was my younger sister on the phone, who lived in an apartment near Hollywood. Said she needed help moving. I asked, "OK, when?". Her answer - "Now.". That was fun.........don't remember much about the evening. it was all a blur....

We've only had three houses in many years. First small house we didn't have much of anything so don't call that moving.
The first real move was around six blocks and we actually walked some carrying a lot of things like a 20" extension ladder. Lived there 30 years.
Move number two was 1100 miles which I got down to 1000 eventually. Using a family van and 18' flat bed with sides I made seven trips.
Been here 20+ Years. Don't plan on taking much back. Have a mover lined up to take three cars. Hopefully the rest will fit in my 6 1/2' truck bed in two trips most. More car parts and crap than we know what to do with left over. My wife was a hoarder and I didn't realize it. :whew:

Got a little nostalgic again and started going through photos. This pic was snapped that very first day I held her, just as Cleo was dozing off in the palm of my hand.
