Got some links to Youtube or somewhere that we can hear your song choices? Since you still list the 72 Monaco wagon, I think you should do '72 even though you no longer have the wagon.

I had the same trouble with 2002. In the 70's and earlier, it was pretty well known what country bands were from. Now, I don't think it is. You pretty much need to look up a band or a song on Wikepedia to find out when a song was released and what country the band was from. Finding songs from a particular year is easy enough by just doing a google search for Top 100 songs 2006 (or whatever the year).

Heres some links for the great year of 1962

Little Eva - The Loco Motion ( on Shindig )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xufxKCC1NJ8

Booker T and the MGs - Green Onions

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-7QSMyz5rg

Since I still display the 1972 Dodge Monaco .. lol I dont even notice,

    1972 was another memorable year.

Richard Nixon has just been re-elected to office. He would barely serve 2 years of his 4 year term before the Watergate break in would be enough to make him quit the job as US President in 1974.

The Oakland A's began their era of dynasty in baseball beating Johnny Bench and the Big Red Machine of Cinncinatti in the 1972 world series.
Oakland would go on to sweep the Reds in 5 games. Then win the 73 and 74 world series.
The Olympic games were marred by crazed terrorists in Munich Germany, when the entire squad from Isreal were gunned down. I can still hear Al Michaels .... " Theyre Gone, All Gone ".

My favorite movies from 72 are

    The Godfather
    Superfly

From the movie Superfly - Curtis Mayfield , Superfly

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cmo6MRYf5g

My favorite songs from the year 1972 is among others

    T Rex - Bang a Gong ( Get it On )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19IqwU3itFk

The Seekers - Id like to teach the world to sing ( in Perfect Harmoney )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jr9hPbYmBo

You who are young enough may remember the Coca-Cola ad from 1979 that used this song for a Tv commercial

Coincidentally, tomorrow is the 40th anniversary - of the Watergate break-in.

The grooveshark links didn't work for me, but I like seeing vintage music I'm not familiar with.

Sorry about that, I previewed before posting and the links worked for me...:sorry:

    Here are some youtube links

The Love You Save by the Jackson 5:

    Paperhouse by CAN:

The only place I could find the complete version of "Timesteps" online is on Grooveshark - it's also excerpted throughout the film, but the Soundtrack Record has the complete version.

You might try searching for 'Timesteps' on Grooveshark if it doesn't auto load, if you really want to hear it...

    Same here.
I didn't really care for it, despite the accolades it received.
It's a well made film, just the story seems pointless.
I could watch "The Shining" (another Carlos scored Kubric film) a thousand times and it wouldn't get old.

Great idea. My car is an '86 and I graduated high school in '86 also. I lived in south Florida and listened to a variety of music because of the cultural mix there. I use to cruise the beach in my 84 Ford Mustang SVO with my 2 12" woofers blasting. Hey, I was 18.

This was a style of music that was popular in New York and Miami at the time. It's called Freestyle. Most of you won't get it. But if you saw the young pretty girls dancing to it, you would learn to like it. :D

Its been 7 days, so by the rules, I can post four more songs from the model year of my wagon. 1967.

1967 song from an American artist
    California Nights by Lesley Gore
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6zhSpQpIM8

1967 song from an artist from another country
Theres a Kind of a Hush by Hermans Hermits (a British band)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5ozG5JYMvM

1967 song from a movie soundtrack
You Only Live Twice by Nancy Sinatra from the James Bond movie of the same name
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3lC1Q_L16k

For the instrumental song from 1967, I'll pick another soundtrack. This one could be off a little on the year. The movie its from is from 1966, but the song actually hit the Billboard charts in 1968.
Theme from the Clint Eastwood movie, The Good The Bad and The Ugly
