As luck would have it, I have come across two (yes two) 68 wagons. Both are the same color and are similar condition.

I was really looking at the GM brands but these look interesting and seem to be rare.

Not to start a war but rare does not always mean collectible or valuable so I figured I would ask the pros here.

I know there are a ton of variables but....If both are well worn but drivable, have original interiors and paint and are not beat to heck what am I looking at as a reasonable price to buy a drivable wagon?

I'm looking for patina but this I believe is big money for this car. Let's hear your thoughts.

I'm not sure about the price in your area but I love the pics. Others will chime in as they log on. Good luck. :)

I owned a '67 Polara nine-passenger wagon with 383, auto and air from 2000 to 2003. I sold it for what was top money in '03 at $8K, and it was spotless! Granted 10+ years later, that $8K doesn't buy spotless; so I'm thinking more like $5K or so for either example you show.

On of our 'Big Chrysler Corp' people here is Dan Scully. He'll have an opinion.

My opinion would be that those are both overpriced by at least $3,000, maybe more.

I'll send Dan a PM so he can respond...

The 68 looks better than the 67, but both seem to be priced high to me. A friend of mine recently bought a 68 Monaco wagon for around $3000 or $3500 and it was in similar condition. Heres another 68 Monaco wagon.

I agree with everyone else . Even at half the asking price I believe they are over priced . $2800 -$3500 would be my offer. My :2cents:

As Rick Harrison over at the Gold and Silver Pawn shop would say "Just because it's old doesn't mean it's valuable"

I think that both of the cars you are looking at are good examples, they seem straight and the first one certainly appears to be a driver with original paint. That said, I think the sellers have both watched a little too many Barrett-Jackson auctions on television.

My 64 Plymouth wagon is nicer than both, and although it is priceless to me I'm realistic about what it's worth. I think I would be very lucky to get 8 grand for it.
I've been into old cars since I was a little kid, but more recently I have been looking into a slew of old iron for my father-in-law.

I think the first car would be priced fair at around $3500 and the second about $2500

One of our members had one for sale and was asking $4000 for it. That was two years ago, not sure if he still has it.
For sale thread can be seen here: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19476

That's my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Fantastic guys. Thank you for all of your insight! My gut was telling me the same things as you all have. Because I have zero Mopar experience I really needed this.

I believe this is the same car as the one for $7K as it is in the same city as listed in that old link.

The thing to remember is that paint and body and trim are the most expensive things to redo on a car. Both of these cars listed seem to be needing those items totally redone. If I were buying then my top offer on the 68 would be 2500 plus up to 1000 if ALL mechanical was redone within last 3 years. The 67 looks to be in pretty rough shape and that one would be 1000 plus up to 1000 more if ALL mechanicals are redone in last 3 years. Check for tailgate rust, fuel tank rust and if near an ocean check for rust in sheetmetal seams, drop offer accordingly.

I understand why. The seller had me on the line and got greedy. It was after he tried to push me another $500 I decided to check pricing here. Glad I did.

I'm going to look at the first one today. I don't hold too much hope that they are going to drop 1/2 from the ask price of $8K. That said I don't plan on doing something stupid either.
