Nor do I. I spent three years in what was West Germany from 1989 - 1992. I hung put with an all-American car club in Germany, but my wife and I were the only Americans. There were 26 Germans in the club, and everyone had American cars for daily drivers but two. We're talking everything from my '85 Dodge D150 to a couple of Corvettes, and from a '56 Chrysler St. Regis coupe to a '66 Sport Fury hardtop. You guys that might be thinking that the overseas buyers are not hardcore fans of American iron, have never been to a car show in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, Australia or New Zealand. Most there are far more show-worthy than cars you see here. If I have an overseas buyer, I am more than happy to sell to one. They are VERY knowledgeable of American cars and trucks, for the most part. They know what they want, and they know what people in their area want. They don't buy junk.

I've sent three cars to Germany, two to Belgium, and one to the Netherlands over the past 25 years. I even brought an American car home that was sold NEW in Belgium - a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere I six-passenger wagon! So, like any other commodity, American cars go there, and American cars come back. I know of a '71 HEMI Challenger R/T that has been to England and back to the US FOUR round trips, to a total of eight different owners!

I was there in February (plenty of us Aussies there), what car (cars) did you sell there? How about all that rain on the Friday before the swap meet, that was nuts!!!

By the time mine is paid for, painted, shipped and I pay the local taxes and get it on the road, it will owe me around 20K aud (around 18.5K US at the moment). It will be worth somewhere around 16-20K aud once I have finished perhaps. I will be lucky to make every penny back.

However this is much more about the experience and the actual ownership of this type of car and not about flipping for profit for me, however if hang onto it long enough I will get my money back eventually. :)

I sold a 69 Chevy C20 pickup that went to Australia two years ago. A year ago, we took a freind's 29 Ford "roadster" (actually, at coupe that sat upside down in a wash for decades and made into a roadster)done up as a 50's hot rod that stayed in California, Hollywood, actually, and last month we sold a 65 C10 shortbed stepside, V8, 4 speed, a/c that went to a guy who collects and resells Chevy trucks from the Netherlands. He doesn't like "late model" trucks, only 1966 and older. He gave us his e-mail address and I looked up his collection.........impressive.
I believe we're all "car guys" that buy/sell at Pomona, regardless of what country you live in.
BTW, I spent 3 years in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1966 to 1969. There were lots of American cars there then, too.
