This is the same car that was for sale last March in
Florida for $9,000 We discussed it on the forum here.
Seems like, once one of our Wagons go over-seas, the
price on them GOES NUTS !!!! and never to be seen here
in the states again. Kinda sad.....

Perhaps, but add shipping costs overland US, then by ship to Europe, then Customs fees and Value Added Tax (approximately 40% of the price that Customs values it at, NOT what was actually paid! Then the 18% VAT), then the TUV (German road certification that is around $1,000 for the first inspection) and registration...

So, now you see why it's NOT a $9K car in Germany.

That might be how much it cost to get the car, but only a foolish secondary buyer would pay for shipping and import tax incurred by seller.

Do you really expect a seller in Germany to sell the car for say. $10K then??? Expenses are expenses. Overhead is overhead. The original importer paid all the taxes, tariffs and transportation fees. The new German buyer knows this, and expects to pay that back to the seller as part of the cost of doing business. To expect the guy who imported the car back to Germany to NOT make money is ridiculous!!! What if this were reversed? You are the German seller. Do you really expect to eat those fees, tariffs and taxes??? Of course not.

If you just purchased this wagon 6 months ago and shipped it from the U.S. to GERMANY , why are you selling it? ANSWER,-to turn a fast buck (dealer?). It's a american wagon, some rich european will buy it!

Nothing chases the blues away quite like a ride in the long roof.

People buy and sell cars all day long, sometimes even making an eeeeevil profit on the sale. More power to the seller!

Example if I buy a car in the USA for arround $10000.-
I have to pay arround €10000.- till the car is here in Germany.
Then I have to pay some other money for registration and so on.....

I manage to go to the Pomona Swap meet at least once a year. I always take a vehicle to sell there, and hope to recoup my expenses to tow over there. I've been lucky enough to say that the last five times I've gone, I've sold what we trailered over. Two of the last three vehicles went overseas. All were paid for with American dollars, but one went to Australia, and one to the Netherlands. I don't see anything wrong with that..........
