Nothing else made in the last twenty years that isn't a custom order? I did see at least one P.T. Cruiser with Woodgrain and one SUV with it too. Just saying.

I like the fact that my Gran Torino has a very nice club that goes along with it, not just stationwagonforums.

The E39 is fast, the rarely seen 540i version of the already less common E39 wagon, and it's comfortable.

    Excellent!

Are you able to expand on your club or is it a secret order or something like that?

Can't have to many car fans.:)

One of the things I like most about the Merc is climibing behind the wheel and seeing that hood ornament standing up way out at the end of the hood. I have always had a thing for land yachts with hood ornaments, and this one in particular because it is so similar to the Lincoln hood ornaments of the same area which were on my first car.

Being born in '81, I would consider myself to be in the last generation of kids that grew up riding in the last generation of real wagons when they were still new and plentiful on the roads. I always loved all of the big American battleships as a kid in the 80's and early 90's (sedans and wagons)....Cadillacs, Lincolns, Buicks... We had three woodies in the family during those years which I adored. My grandparents had a black 85 Town and Country which was very sharp with whitewalls and wire wheels. My great uncle who did very well in his contracting business bought a brand new white final edition 91 Grand Wagoneer with the cordovan leather interior and a white final edition 91 Colony Park LS with a tan leather interior. Riding in the back of the Colony Park was a favorite memory with one of my cousins. I remember thinking to myself even as a teenager that it was stupid that the car makers were retiring all of the models that I was loving. Now as a dad, I see my own kids eyes light up when they climb in the back of our CP the way mine did 25 years ago. Some things never go out of style.

I totally am able to. It's called grantorinosport.org. We have an active forum and serve the 72-76 Torino/Montego, 74 Gran Torino Elite and 75-76 Ford Elite, 72-79 Ranchero, 74-79 Cougar, 77-79 LTD II, and 77-79 Thunderbird. Meets twice a year, the next one being at the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, GA. Pretty much the go to place for the cars I just listed :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

The fact that it is different and for those that want to be individuals and stand out from all the SUVs and Mini Vans that have taken the Station Wagon into oblivion.

That. That's why I miss my CP and love my Chero...it's a big turn away from everyone else's lookalike econoboxes/soccermom SUV's/minivans, and we thumb our noses at the notion of becoming sheeple.
