howdy folks!!! name is Russ, i have a 1966 chevy caprice wagon, will post pics soon as it is in the paint shop at the moment lol. anyhoo just wanted to say hi.
well it turns out iam way better at building cars and harleys than iam on the computer lol, anyhoo some background on me is as follows, 47 yrs old, married 23 years to the girl of my dreams, two daughters 20 and 23, just became a grampa!!! so life is good lol. i have always been a total gearhead, covered in hot rod and harley tattoos, last summer i arrived at my job on a thurs and my boss/brotherinlaw said he had sold his house and was moving, he had brought a 1966 caprice wagon up from wash state about 6 years ago and partially disassembled it for painting, cleaning etc, well he asked if i wanted the wagon and at the time i said no because it wasnt affordable at the time, he then said its yours free if you want it, so needless to say i was over there that evening with a truck and trailer lol.it is a 66 bone stock and original 275 horse 327 3 speed standard, 12 bolt rearend, kind of unusual as it has the factory gauges that are usually attached to a console and it has an extra H on the vin and one stamped on the intake, done a ton of research and turns out factory holley equipt. so i made a decision considering its a keeper that it has to be kool, so iam going with a 454 4speed setup, factory mint green paint with satin finish, removed all woodgrain trim and just bone stock interior, only butchering that will be done is 1 hole in the floor for shifter. iam not worried about devaluing the car as i wont be selling it, and i have all the stock parts if i ever decide to go back to stock. anyhoo i will post pics when i can, its in getting sprayed right now and motor and tranny are waiting. soory kinda long winded post but i dont get too much time to go online lol. Russ.
Great intro. aboard grandpa, congratulations with so many things...the love of your life, two daughters, a new grandbaby and lets not forget about a great brother-inlaw with a generous heart to give you a cool puzzel that hopefully will become a great family mover. Looking forward to your pics when you get the chance. Hope you enjoy the forums.
Welcome Russ. Sounds like it's gonna be a great project. We need more introductions like yours. Thanks.
Your car sounds and looks very familiar. I believe we crossed paths before on one of the Chevy sites. Welcome to this site. There are some real nice people here. Bill (62BillT on the Chevy sites)
