Why is the glass tinted? Is that a factory option? And in that photo, did they just wash the car?

Overpriced. Not fully loaded. A/M privacy tint. No such thing as 'privacy tint' (very dark tint, like you see on a lot of SUV's) back in the 70's.

The Buick also posted appears to be a much better deal, for $1,600 less....

So, would you say this car is worth closer to $4,000 now?

Probably thereabouts or so. It looks pretty nice and is a good color, but the lack of power options (windows, locks, seats) does hurt its value.

Where can I learn about the options that these cars came with? Other than where I've already learned, that is. (I posted a topic on the forum about options for these cars for the previous model year.)

Here's a great website with old dealer brochures - no better source, except also Wikipedia.

The mileage is claimed to be 39,000, but the car looks like it could just as easily be 139,000. The body does look to be in good shape, but the front seat is certainly worn to hell. But that can happen just from age.

It may not have every option offered back then, but it does have A/C, power tailgate, luggage rack, cruise control, and tilt steering wheel.

The left edge of the dash in this photo certainly makes you wonder about the 39,000 mile claim, but otherwise, as I said, the body and bumpers look very good.

It is not, however, an $8,500 car, even if it has only 39,000 miles. Half that would be a starting point, and he would be smart to take any offer over $3,000.

One thing going for it is the color. It looks excellent in that bronze tone.
