403 V8 and apparently all options except sunroof. Great looking Buick. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/4462567794.html
Stunned this beauty is still available. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/4514010713.html
Me too! Fully loaded it seems, but what color is it? There's a couple items that bear further investigation from the pictures. 1) the curious looking bracket on the driver's door window/seat control panel, 2) duct tape on the induction hose, 3) the beautiful pile carpet looks stained in areas, I would want at minimum to see the underside, 4) any available service records. Beautiful car, this is the model Mike 81X11's friend Rich had I think, he was very impressed with it.
Posting deleted, so hopefully this beauty went to a good home. That colour, Charcoal Grey Metallic, is a funny one in pictures. In certain light it looks black, but in others, almost a medium grey. In person, it does the same sort of colour shift too. Still, it is hard to make it look that great with a touch up as the difference in the way the flakes lays changes the colour. These Electras really are fantastic to drive, too. Roomy, comfortable, and decent on gas, I would have another in a heart beat if I didn't live where salt eats them from the inside out.
It looks like the mounting panel for the power window/power lock/power seat control on the driver's door has been broken, and that strap is to hold it together. Looks like the passenger front door needs a new window switch, and for sure it has to have new tires quickly. Uniroyal Nail Guard tires have not been made in too long for these to be considered safe, no matter the condition or tread. It sure is a beauty, but I would want to give her a thorough going over before spending big bucks to buy her.
Yep, attractive car with beautiful dash but seriously dorky steering wheel. Well, at least it ain't welded chain. mike
Thanks KK. I was aware of that. Still it does kind of look like it came from the Fisher Price factory. That's OK though. Ford had their share of "say what" choices and I still remain a fan. It really is a lovely car though. mike
Why is this car so appealing today (to me at least) - honestly? I am 48 years old and find the appearance inside and out of this Buick far superior to current cars! I fully acknowledge the huge engineering advantages of modern accomplishments like ABS, fuel injection and air bags to name just a few. But this 1979 Buick Electra just looks like such a real car! Styling seems like such a total afterthought now. Is it that current cars are all slaves to the wind tunnel such that they cannot be told apart?
Seeing the turbulence behind the new cars on a snowy day, I think the engineers have jumped UNDER the aero bandwagon! Older cars, like this Buick, have a nice, smooth, even airflow that does create a huge vacuum behind the car. Turbulence equals energy wasted. Stuck at the side of the road with a flat, it was astounding what new cars were TERRIBLE for the amount of turbulence they created, and some were amongst the sleeker designs out there, too.
We had a 77 Park when I was growing up, beautiful car and rode like a dream, it actually became mine later and then I gave it up. Wish I still had it, that car was so smooth and drove so well. Pity all the money I have wasted on crap since then.
