Normally I'd say there's no way a '73 Country Squire would be worth this kind of money, but this car looks to be in truly extraordinary condition. It would probably take twice this amount to restore one in lesser condition to this level.
"My association HOA is giving me a hard time for having 3 cars" Yeah, living anywhere that had an HOA would probably make me shoot people. I'm not violent, but when I hear things like this, or when I hear stories like this next one, I really don't know why anyone would EVER live in an HOA! http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/story/22961884/veteran-flag-battle
Beautiful car and the colors I love. I love the '73 Squires. This one appears to have some rust bubbling under paint on the back door? Also, looks like it may have been repainted. Does it look like it ever had any body work on the rear quarters? Maybe it is just me. It is a beauty though.
Beautiful wagon. Love that color! And it's on Ebay too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Ford-Other-Classic-Woody-Wagon-/141258672554?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
Reserve now met at $7809 with just over 14 hours to go! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Other-...0e3ac49aa&item=141258672554&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
I'm always suspicious of eBay closing prices, just because of all of the games some people play, both buyer and seller.
I thought it would go that high; prices are definitely rising and even Sports Car Market magazine's Keith Martin stated that 60' to 80's wagons are the "new woodies".
If the Country Squire is reasonably priced at $10k, then this rarer and better optioned Colony Park is a true bargain at nearly half the price. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30901
I agree. They are both fine cars, but the Mercury looked about as nice to me and like you said, rarer and nicer equipped. The Country Squire did have one up on the Colony Park however... that Ford wagon had the optional cornering lights and this Mercury did not.
If you check out the thread on the CP, you'll see that this car has a few problems (I didn't notice them, but nothing escapes the eagle eyes of some of our forum members) that the Country Squire doesn't have. Also -- as I have noted before -- for reasons unknown, it seems to have been a general rule that Mercurys will sell for less than their Ford counterpart models. Now that the Mercury marque has been discontinued, it will be interesting to see if this phenomenon continues or if orphan status will increase the value of Mercurys.
