I've seen a prototype of circra 66/67 Oldsmobile Toronado station wagon, and was left to wonder- WHY didn't Olds give the green light for full production of a station wagon version of the Toronado? It looked spectacular!

    Same for Mustang and Corvette.......

One car that would have been spectacular as a station wagon was the 67-70 Ford Thunderbird, given the vast size of the sedans.

Anyone know if any concept or clay models were done for staiton wagon versions of the late 60s t-birds?

i always wondered why there weren't more caddilac wagons produced for the public or wagons built on the electra 225 or bonneville platform like they did with the olds 98.i also believe the late 60's model t-birds and lincolns with the suicide doors would've been awesome wagons.

Do you have any photos of the Toronado prototype?
The only "Toronado" 'wagon' I know of is the airport limo previously detailed here in this forum.

    Here's a link I prevously posted..
    http://my.net-link.net/~dcline/limoair1.htm

THAT vehicle is NOT a Toronado 'prototype', built by Oldsmobile or even General Motors, but by a private firm USING the front clip from a Toronado.

If there was a clay model done for a station wagon version of the late '60's T-Bird, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT AS WELL, since I used to own a 4-door 1969 T-Bird Laundau

I would have liked to have seen factory Cadillac wagons.

    WOW!!!!
Nice cars! The Mustang wagon would have worked- as for the Vette, T-bird or Shelby- the roofs just look out of whack...

Cadillac will be offering the CTS Sports Wagon in 2010, which will be their first mainstream family station wagon. It's hard to believe it's taken them this long to realise there might be a market for Cadillac station wagons-

Up until now, Cadillac wagons were marketed only as hearses and ambulances- A Cadillac family station wagon model is a nice change.

Now you're talkin' on the prototype Toronado wagon. Now that you posted that photo, I seem to recall reading something about it years ago. Imagine a full sized, front wheel drive wagon!. A smaller center tunnel (exhaust only), lower center of gravity, more cargo room. This mule however, would have had to retain the full perimeter frame that the original wagon had. It would have been great if GM had brought out wagon versions of the front wheel drive big cars - Bonneville, LeSabre, Electra, Delta 88, 98, etc. Unfortunately, by that time, minivans were selling big time, so big wagons wern't in demand.

Was there a wagon version of the 68' Pontiac Bonneville?

Station wagon versions of the great muscle cars- such as Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Pontiac GTO, AMC Javlin , Plymouth Baracuda and Mercury Cougar would have been interesting!

i always thought a wagon and sedan version of both grand prix and monte carlos would've been cool especially the late 70's models.

Yes - Pontiac sold 'big' Bonneville wagons up until 1971, when the 'clamshell' wagons came out. They were then renamed 'Grandville' since the Bonneville name was dropped (to be resurrected in about 1980 on the midsize LeMans platform).

Couldn't find any photos of a '68 Bonneville wagon, but here's a link to a 1969........(The two-tone paint is custom) (Tried inserting a photo, but just get the red "X" thingy.......)

    E Body Wagons

Mopar should have brought out Cuda and Challenger wagon's...would not have been that hard to do since the Mopar E Body chassis was basically a 71 B Body (Coronet-Satellite)from the rear footwells forward.

That Caddy CTS kinda looks like a Magnum dontcha think ?
