My brother in law pointed me here, may as well say hello.

Just grabbed a 1983 Town and Country for practically spare change. The interior is in fantastic condition, and it has more bells and whistles than our other car, which is almost twenty years newer. We're diagnosing out an ignition issue, it looks like none of that has ever been replaced. It's got 73,000 miles on it, so it's also the lowest miles we've had on a "new" car. The interior is immaculate, the exterior has two spots of rust the size of a silver dollar, and faux-wood paneling. Still working on getting it running nicely, but it pays to be married to a mechanic.

We grabbed it because our other car is a Miata, and fitting a week's worth of camping gear in there takes a degree in Tetris and a cargo net. My last car was a ford aspire, before that was a freebie minivan, so I'd call this one hell of an upgrade.

So, about me. I live in New England, I work in publishing, I'm a professional painter, I make mead, working on making beer, I collect classic hondas, and I travel more than most migratory birds. I'm married to a mechanic, Rally enthusiast and LBC lover, we dabble in autocross.

Welcome to the group. Sound like you found a nice wagon to play with. I know about those Miatas. Son has been driving and working on a friends. Old gas and electrical issues with it are causing headaches. Getting the electrical gremlins out of any car is work.
The wagon probably just needs a good tune up and replacement parts. Hurry up with that beer. Your mechanic will need it.:drink:

Hey! Glad you joined. This group definitely needs pics, so you'll have to post some. Add them to the gallery, and we'll be able to see them.

Also, this place is addicting. I'm on almost every day, and also a great source of information. These guys and girls know all there is to know about everything relating to cars, and wagons in particular.

Again, glad you joined, and tell your other half I said "Hi"

You know when you guys are coming back out this way?

I think you've got one with the very desireable Mark Cross interior package (upgraded seats, more features, etc.....)

    Welcome to the SWF, Birchdeer!

That's the one, Krash! I'll take and post some more pictures after I vacuum it out, sweep out the dust and give the seats another coat of leather conditioner. It is the Mark Cross interior package, with very little wear on it.

zzzizxz: Might be a while until we see you guys again, we're saving our vacation days to do the Blue Ridge Parkway and see the East Coast sister. Thanks for pointing us here.

Everyone else, thanks for the friendly welcome.

Welcome to the Nuthouse we call home. Great job grabbing that car. It is most certainly a rarity. Not many of those wagons were made, and the Mark Cross Interior was a very expensive, and hence rare, option. To find one in that shape after all these years is wonderful. That you got it for 'loose change' makes it an even better deal. If you run into any problems with the car just ask. Around here you will get lots of answers, and one or two will even be right!
