Hello folks! I brought my 72 Vista Cruiser to a cruise in the other day and a fellow there told me about this forum, so I thought I'd join.

My second car was an 86 Caprice Wagon and from there, even though I only had it about a year, I just fell in love. In 2003, I bought an 85 Olds 88 Custom Cruiser in good shape and still on the road (when I'm not improving or repairing it) and is still the best 1200 bones I ever spent. After that, I started really getting into classic cars and in 2012, after 2 years of searching, I finally bought my dream car, a 1972 Vista Cruiser. It doesn't have the 455, but after an engine overhaul and slight improvements, it's got it where it counts. I wanted a muscle station wagon and now I've got one.

I do a lot of my own work on these cars and have learned a great deal about Oldsmobile engines, wiring, body work and all that, especially on the 88 over 11 years, so if I can share any of that knowledge, I'd love to help.

Wagon man for life. My dad is a Van man with 2 vans, but his dad was a wagon man. Lol. Guess it runs in the family and trades generations.

One might ask why anyone would need more than one wagon and I always simply say that even though they're the same make, they're different models. They handle differently, ride differently, definitely one is sportier than the other, one can handle more cargo than the other and the 88 is far more luxurious than the Cutlass, so even though they're both station wagons, they're two totally different cars to me.

My wagons are cruising cars and I intend on keeping them that way. Neither are show cars and both have modifications done by yours truly because even though I like for them to be original, if there's a modification I think one needs in order to cruise the way I cruise, I'm gonna make that modification. Installing a modern stereo is a fine example of that. Cars are meant to be on the road, bringing pleasure to their drivers and that's what mine will do for as long as I can.

My favorite cruises are when I drive both cars on the same day. Usually one in the morning in one direction, then I go home, get the other and cruise in the another direction! Lol.

I know that's a long post, sorry. It's just that when it comes to wagons, especially mine, I always have a lot to say and feel!

I will upload plenty of pics if this site has an album feature for sure.

:Welcome:to the forum. Great introduction. I don't believe an intro can be too long and no one can say too much about their toys. Personally I like all cars and trucks, and all station wagons. :yahoo:

Great intro OWM! Envying the straight body on your Vista Cruiser - probably THE iconic wagon of the early 1970's. The box Olds looks great too - like that year's grille. Glad that you get so much enjoyment out of them - that's the whole point of wagoneering.

Wagons are few and far between around here so it's a treat when I see one around here!

Dennis, You need to invite Oldswagonmaster over for a wrenching session or two to get yours back on the road. Well worth some beer and pizza. :pub:
