I was looking at the street avenger series but would like to know what experiences anyone's had with
them. My dad has a 870 street avenger that works great but looking at reviews on them seems like a
craps shoot and have really not found current reviews so please help me out, I respect your honest
opinion and have been saved from myself more than once by advice here.

    Thanks,
    Dennis

I haven't had much luck with Holley carbs - Edelbrock carbs seem to be easier to live with - just my opinion.

I sell both here at Napa Dennis (Edelbrock & Holley) and haven't had major issues with either. Customers have said the Holley is a little harder to "dial in", and that Edelbrocks website is much more helpful. Feedback on both has been mostly very positive.

A 670 is just about the correct cfm for most small blocks. I have played with Holleys all my life and have found they are easy to tune.

I did the cfm calculation on the size, was wondering more about the quality. As stated I am running a 870 cfm Street Avenger on my dads car with no issues so far (only 1800 miles) but some of the reviews I read people mentioned after installation motor runs fine but next time they go to start it is hard starting and when they pull a plug it is gas soaked. I was just wondering if I got lucky with my dad's or what? Should I consider that series for my motor based on y'all's experience?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Dennis

Watch out for Holleys. From what I hear, a lot of their new ones are made in China. The Edelbrocks are, I believe, American. That alone would make the difference for me, without a second thought.

That's correct Mike, and that was also a factor in my selection. I also had an Edelbrock intake and the 1402 carb (600cfm) works well with it. Big difference for my wagon, but I was going from a stock intake and 2 barrel carb.

JR, that is what my brother put on his Fords. The Edelbrock Performer with the square bore 4 bbl, which is made by Weber. He was going after highway mileage, and that is what he got, along with a nice bump in performance.
