OMG - that's like the movie "Candyman"! Don't say the name three times in front of a mirror, or you summon the demon to you!

wasn't there a nice clean 75 or 76 blue OCC from NJ a few years ago that got flooded in the Sandy storm?

Now that's a scary thought. Not that this is one of them.
But somewhere there are many low mileage vehicles that were in deep water in flooded areas. I don't know the laws but undrstand the information of any flood damaged cars is supposed to be made available when sold.
Like that always happens! Yes, just a thought.

I remember that car, but, as I recall (and I could be mistaken), it was a lighter blue and it was a '76.

Yes, I remember. It was a light blue '76 and it was on Staten Island.

It was relisted after Sandy, with the price dropped to $2,000. A shame as it was in great shape before the flood, and the price included a new bumper to replace the rotted original. I think the original asking was $6,000. I may be mistaken.

That door will never match after it is repaired. You would almost be better off to leave it as is. That is exactly why the car is not worth anything near $17,000. Even if you had the exact woodgrain, the vinyl on the car has aged and again it will be obvious. Woodgrainwagons are cool, but they are near impossible to repair if the woodgrain has been "flawed".

I also agree totally. Leave the (fairly) minor flaw and adjust the price accordingly. :) Originality means a lot.

So when did they change the headlights for these? I thought the '75 and '76 models had headlights like later 1977-90 Cruisers. Or was it just the '76 models?

Full size Chevy Caprice, Buick, Olds, and Pontiacs received rectangular headlights for the 1976 model year (last year of the body style). The 1975's were still round.

Not 100% correct. There was actually a phase-in, at least as far as Oldsmobile. 1974 was the last year for round headlights all around. In 1975, the Toronado and Ninety-Eight received rectangular headlamps while the Custom Cruiser and Delta 88 retained the round ones. In 1976, all had rectangulars.

Here are the relevant pages from the 1975 Olds brochure showing the Toronado and 98.

It turns out that Buick introduced rectangular headlamps on its high-end cars in 1975, too. They were on the Riviera and Electra.
