In thinking about how to introduce myself it occurs to me that my first car was a `69 Ford Country Squire. It wasn't very impressive but mom thought it was safe and it beat taking the bus. I spent way too much time and money stripping off the fake woodgrain and filling in all those holes. In hindsight I should have left the body alone, slammed it, and fitted some wider steel wheels. I wouldn't mind driving it today in that condition. I've moved up (down?) to French cars since and have an Ami 8 Break and an Ami Super Break. The Ami 8 has the 602cc twin cylinder motor and the chassis and suspension from the 2CV. The Ami Super has a 1015cc four from Citroëns GS. I didn't plan on owning wagons but it just worked out that way. To pay for gas and tools I work as a special education teacher in Northern California. It's nice to virtually meet everyone. -Peter
Now you've got me going. I don't think I've ever seen a Ami 8 or super for that matter. Other than a couple of Citroens I don't think we have any other French cars. Please post pictures when you can. Again, welcome.
Merci for the nice welcome. I posted a couple photos showing my Ami Super and Ami 8. You can also see my friend's example which is quite nice.
Bonjour mon ami! I am fascinated by your wagons. While I'm not much of a fan of French automobiles, I find yours fascinating. Were they imported here? If they were, then I am glad they are not back home in Paris where they probably would be burned by rioting muslim "French" youths of Algerian origin for some percieved slight aginst Sharia law or something.
Bienvenue! Do yours have the air-lift option? I saw a fellow change a tire by raising the height of the car with the air-lift feature.
I was cruising around and found a source for Citroen carpeting: http://www.prestigeautotrim.com/uk/carpets/citroen_carpets.htm And they've got a US site too: http://www.prestigeautotrim.com/
My first car was a 68 Colony Park.It would've been nice to have it long enough to do something more with it.I'm going to say "Hello to you and your little friends" and have fun, here in the community, with ALL us wagon-nuts.
