The "Big R" store in town is apparently closing Thanksgiving. I intend to shop there first when I need something in that vein.

I'm sure the Hoffman Estates crowd is not pleased with Miss Holly's decision and some form of "naughty:naughty:, naughty:naughty:" might come her way.

Several businesses that operate here in beautiful Coweta Co. GA will be CLOSED today as well. Chick Fil A Brothers , Publix Bros., and Hobby Lobby Bros are 3 that come to mind off the top of my head. They wouldn't dream of dragging their employees in away from their families on Thanksgiving. Hobby Lobby and CFA are closed on Sundays as well.

Kudos to Miss Holly for taking a stand!

:tiphat: To her. I was asked no less than 10 times this week if we would be open on Thanksgiving so they could drop their car off for service!

X2 :tiphat:! Yeah I'm on the other side of the border but it's the same here during holidays. I remember as kid every Sunday the city would be a ghost town holiday or not as just about everything was closed, grocery, hardware, etc, etc. The local drug store was open but for only 1/2 the day and the od owner/operator corner store with the same 1/2 day hours. Crap, even the last few years while I worked we were never forced but given the push shove option to work remembrance day (Veterans day in the US) You could refuse and I did....although they made it clear you were not getting paid and made it clear you were on the bad books because of.......

I wonder just how many fat cats running these humugus companies went to work today.....or other holidays while they insisted there workers do?...........the workers who made them there millions??

A few moments ago I saw a report on our local news (L.A.) that local shoppers are actually giving up their Thanksgiving traditions to stand in line outside stores like B.B. Such stores are opening this evening to get a "head start" on Black Friday. :banghead3:

The closest I came to departing from the Thanksgiving tradition was serving duck instead of turkey.
