Hey Guys, I finally found a wagon and it is a 1984 Olds Custom Cruiser I have it in for a tune up right now but will post pics and dets soon. Just wondering of there are any sites/shops out there that may carry parts for this model? stuff like tail lights, bumper filler and trim etc I know re eBay but just wondering if there are any "go to" places anyone knows about....well and is willing to share lol thanks
Congratulations myguy. I'm looking forward to the pictures. Do you know any of the history of the car? I had a maroon '86 at one time and loved it. Come to think of it, I had a cream colored '85 as well. They're great cars.
No. Parts like this (body, interior, trim) will have to come from junkyards, donor cars, NOS or used at swap meets, ebay, etc. Nothing in the body/trim/interior area is reproduced for these cars.
Krash Kadillac has a Pontiac Bonneville Safari, and just got new rear bumper fillers. He would be a good one to talk with. I do know that the rear lights are available aftermarket, or were a couple years back, as my brother bought Buick lights for his Pontiac. They are all interchangeable in terms of fitment, even if they don't look quite right
I got both sides, front and rear, as well as the rear center panel in fiberglas. I haven't installed them yet. Cosmetically, they are a good fit, but the pre-drilled holes are in the wrong place.....no big deal when I get ready to install them.
Fillers front and rear are available from: http://www.replica-plastics.com/ Note: Whereas the factory stuff was in fairly flexible urethane, the replacement stuff is Fiberglas. I don't know of any company doing parts in urethane. You will also have to paint them to match. Marshall
Thanks guys.... still do not have the wagon back from the shop where it is in line for a tune up...is a mechanic i trust so is worth the wait. I tried uploading pics to my garage but it did not seem to work? I had trouble with pics before.... I will try again... So the wagon was found in Maine by a friend who buys and sells cars as a hobby. The story is it was owned by a 76 year old lady who had a summer house and she bought this car in 1997 with 34,000 miles on it. Since then only 20,000 miles were added. I have all the paper work verifying that and the condition of the car...rust wise is amazing. It was garage kept all these years and only used in the summer. She was selling her vacation home due to age and one of her friends had it for sale. It was not listed or advertised. My friend saw it as he was driving back from NH with another car. So the good...original paint, body, under carriage, doors etc are almost rustless....I am having it rust checked immediately, drives well, handles well, most options work The not so good...headliner will need attention, power locks lock but will not unlock, rear power window comes down enough to open the door but seems to stop, rear hatch handle is loose, rear bumper filler gone, passenger tail lights busted one small piece of trim needs replacing on rear hatch, some wood siding faded in back, one area of wood siding needs replacing on drivers side (no rust it just seems to have pulled away and cracked), carpet in back seems stained or bleached out, power antenna stays up, power mirror passenger side not moving, needs a good tune up. So that is it so far...i really have not had time to look at it as soon as it arrived here I took it in and dropped it off at the shop for the tune up and undercoating.....it has already snowed here once....I do have a storage unit to put her away for the winter ....Just hoping the mechanic does not find anything major.... Krash I did not see the bumper filler on that site but I will email them...thanks.... there must be a few places that deal in replacement parts... let the search begin.... some pics up now--i c my pic files were too big...
You have to select Chevrolet and then scroll down until you see GM Wagons 1980-90. The rears are located there. The fronts are model specific.
thanks for the info....I am new to owning an old car so I may have lots of questions..... thanks again...... pics are now up
Know these cars well. I think you'll like it. I used a razor blade and removed the wood on mine..it was all shot. Doing it to the area around the rear window, and then painting that area black, came out really sharp. Buick painted theirs black there. Good luck with the car! -Mike
